Soldiers point was a 2.5 hour drive from Sydney, very easy to get to and no hard roads to travel on along the way.
We booked to stay in the Sandy Cabin for 3 nights. There are only 2 sandy cabins available at the place and we were lucky enough to extend for 1 more night as it was still available. The cabin was very modern and had such a great homey feel to it. Definitely clean and newer, the furniture felt new and just super comfy.
Small kitchen area had the main things your needs like a fridge, pantry, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee machine, pots and pans, electric stove with exhaust fan and a dish washer. Make sure to bring your own dishwahsing liquid/tablets and hand wash as not supplied in the cabins.
The bathroom was very clean and modernised. Toilet seat felt a bit loose, shower was amazing as the shower head was like a rain fall feel. Blow-dryer was available as well and they supplied shampoo conditioner and body wash plus hand soap in the bathroom, no need to bring your shampoo because these are provided in the cabin, just bring your own air freshener 😉
The rooms were super cosy and felt so comfy. Bed and bedsheets were clean and we felt super warm as there were extra blankets in the cabinets. I loved how there were TVs in both rooms. The outlet for your charger was easily accessible and also had a USB charging port in case you down have the port available you can just plug in the cord for your charger.
The living room was very spacious and sofa was super comfy and can also be slept on. The aircon was super strong and remote was easy to access. There was wifi available which you have to connect the TV's to if you wanted to watch YouTube or Netflix. The tables in the dining area and lounge were a nice marble finish. Definitely elegant and very nice as it matched the couch and cushions.
Overall our experience was amazing. The staff are super friendly, extending for another night was very easy to do, you only needed 1 key to access the cabin which locked both main glass door and screen door. The front door for the Sandy Cabin is not a door, it's like a sliding door, they also had blinds which made it easy to close and open at your preference. The reception desk always sent messages in the morning to advise of the coffee van arriving for people to purchase coffee, also for other activities that were available to do for that day.
The bowling club was super convenient to walk to as it was right next door. Other shops were also convenient to get to, I'd definitely recommend families with children to stay at this place for at least 4-5 nights as there's so many things to do that you wouldn't want to miss out on...
Read moreFriendly staff at reception and a mini shop for drinks, ice creams, hire DVDs etc. Located next door to Soldiers Point Bowling Club and across the road from Bannisters so lots of options to eat out and not have to drive. Bowling Club has good food & a great outdoor play area too (take a soccer ball for the kids!).
Pet hate - having to make your own beds on holidays! $350/night for a Kentia cabin and the kids beds/bunks only have bottom sheets on them, you have to make them up (very difficult with bunks to reach too). Absolutely don’t get why some holiday parks can’t make your beds - cabins are costly, how much longer would it take housekeeping to add a top sheet & blanket for holiday makers?!
Our Kentia cabin looked like it was recently refurbished, new floors, curtains in lounge area & new lounge which was great. Kids bedroom had frosted windows for privacy but just lace curtains over the windows so it was super bright in the mornings and as a result, kids woke up nice and early! Main bedroom had normal blinds though?!
They have a bowling alley but you need to book in advance (ie before you arrive - it was fully booked when we checked in, it was school holidays though). Mini tennis court and grassed area to play cricket and BBQ in. Grounds very well kept.
Indoor poor sign says open till “dusk”, we tried to go for a quick swim at 4.45pm after arrival (sunset officially at 4.59pm) but was quite abruptly told by a staff member that it closed at “sunset” and he suggested we should look where the sun was!! Indoor pool advertised as heated and was a big reason for picking this location for our winter getaway, but heated is an exaggeration! It was SO cool, no adults swimming only a handful of kids who don’t feel the cold.
Jumping pad great for little kids, not like the typical jumping pillow at other parks though so not for bigger kids. Bike track also good for little bikes, not bigger bikes/kids. Indoor play area for under 5s and an outdoor playground. It’s very much a park aimed at young children, not late primary school upwards.
Free internet never worked, wouldn’t connect anytime day or night in our cabin. Optus has basically no coverage and Telstra you’d be lucky to her 1 bar on 3G inside the park.
We’ve camped here a few times, first time in a cabin. Don’t think we’d rush back, not much for older kids to do compared to other parks we’ve stayed at but bring your young kids and you’d likely have...
