If you are looking to get away somewhere other than the usual, boring holiday apartments and somewhere with an amazing view of the countryside, close to Port Arthur and Remarkable Cave, then look no further. Ruby's Cottage is a cute stay up on the hill above the site that suits up to 4 people (2 couples or a couple and two children who are happy to share a bed). It includes aircon, good, free wifi, a functioning kitchen, and TV with Netflix. It also has a BBQ, firepit, and outdoor table and chairs. The beds are comfortable, and the house is clean and not cluttered. The owners, Kim and Rod, are wonderful hosts who are more than happy to chat and show you around the property and even let you pat the cows if you want. One thing to be aware of, the road to their house is dirt. My 2-wheel drive had no issues getting there but drive cautiously as it is only just wide enough for two cars. Also, keep an eye out for the local widelife. We saw three Tasmanian Devils run across the road in the evening, driving back from dinner.

Kim and Rob were wonderful hosts as was Dozer the dog. The accommodation was very comfortable and the location was perfect for visiting Port Arthur Historic Site and the Remarkable Caves. The highlight was Hanging out with Rod and brushing the Highland Cows. Rod was so generous in sharing his cow knowledge and the time he gave us with Angus and the other cows. This was truly the highlight, the stars and milky way at night with no light pollution wasn also an experience. We can highly recommend staying at Ruby's Cottage. Thanks for having us! Melinda and Paul from Brisbane.

“If you’re tired of the hustle and bustle of work and need to unwind, this is the perfect place to relax. The farm offers stunning views, and from the higher vantage points, you can enjoy a beautiful panorama of Arthur’s Bay. Rob and Amelia were incredibly welcoming and gave us a wonderful tour. Here, we had the chance to get up close and personal with the animals—brushing their coats or petting their soft fur. Highly recommended!”

Such an amazing place! Excellent communication all along from reservation to during our stay. We had the best night's sleep - really comfortable bed and completely silent at night. The stars in the night sky were amazing, we spent ages stargazing before going to bed. The other stars are of course the cows! Huge thanks to Rod who gave us a great tour and let us get right up close and brush the cows, they were amazing, such lovely animals. All the while the hens pecking around us too, and the friendliest dog tagging along as well. Couldn't have asked for more and we were sad to leave. If we were coming again I'd stay two nights for sure, especially when you buy a ticket for Port Arthur Historic site and it can be used over two days, because it's just a few minutes...
