After 10 years of visiting this incredible course I am sad to report that it feels as though standards are slipping (mainly from a management perspective. The courses are still incredibly good and the hospitality in the bar and restaurant were great).
Our group of 8 were excited to visit for 72 holes and get our first hit at the new Bougle Run (which was short but pretty fun). However upon being presented with our bill upon check out they had billed us for $85 per player in our group of 8 and informed us that the 'all day golf' package we had signed up for only covered us for the Lost Farm course - truly bizarre when they are on the same property. $85 for a pitch and putt course is just sheer lunacy. It should honestly be $40-50 max or even free for house guests. Staff in the pro shop and reception were blunt and rude when we questioned them about the extra charges. At $85 just give Bougle Run a wide berth.
Be warned, they also just automatically add on $10 per guest per day for use of a pull cart, not informing us of the charge and we have never been charged for it before. It all just feels a bit miserly when you are coming as a group of 8 for 2 nights and spending $1000's.
Just my two cents. It was enough to leave a sour taste for us and we are now looking at other options such Bonville, Cape Wickham etc for our...
Read moreApril 23rd, I was visiting from Canada. Decided to try this so called, “lovely, high-class restaurant” that is Lost Farm. I was very disappointed with what I was given, not only in the food, but also the drinks and poor service. To start off, our drinks came late and confused with others. The food had little to no flavour, and personally the portions were relatively small. As well as, glasses and plates were not to the highest quality of cleanliness. While I can understand waiters may want to talk to their coworkers I’d suggest doing it in the staff room, kitchen or after hours. As communication may be strong with eachother on topics of personal matter, it was not a strong suit in work as our meals were mixed up/given to other tables, and another waiter came over after we were finished eating, plates cleared and all, asking if we got our meals yet. Hovering over the customers will only piss someone off more, which I could see from the neighbouring tables. The staff not only looked lost, but in comparison to the setting, they were very untidy in appearance. There was clearly no one competent enough in charge of the waiters and waitresses present. It was one of the worst experiences I have had in a restaurant. While Tasmania gave me good memories, this was a very poor/sad/disappointing/slightly...
Read moreVery difficult place to get to, particularly from the east coast in the US. A whole lot of traveling. However, once you are there, hard to beat! Spent 5 nights & had a blast! The 2 golf courses are worthy of their ratings! Beautiful, very scenic, very playable, walking only! The rooms at Lost Farm were great & the setting in the restaurant there was truly memorable! What a view!!! Food was good at both restaurants. 98% of the employees are fantastic! My only 2 negatives were 1) the resort shuttle system doesn’t work well 2) the head pro, Roscoe, is rude, arrogant, condescending & doesn’t care for anyone without an Aussie accent. All of the employees are keenly aware of this guy & apologize for his lack of basic customer service skills. We heard story after story from the employees about this jerk. I checked & you can find post after post on social media about this so called “golfoligist” from other visitors of Barnbougle so I know it’s not just my group. For such a great place, it’s a shame to have such a rotten apple as your pro. I mentioned all of this to management before I left & they just shrugged their shoulders. What a shame to travel that far, to a fantastic resort, & be treated so poorly by the first...
