Warning, Absolutely gross food! Arrived for dinner thinking we'd be eating some good old pub food with a friendly vibe. Wrong! Front bar and main entry full of tradies and rough looking locals. My teenage daughters and I felt quite uncomfortable so we shot into the rear dining room. Just an odd odd room with no lights on, no music playing, no vibe. In hindsight wish we'd done an abrupt u-turn and bolted right out of there but decided to give it a go. How dumb were we for not trusting our instincts! By far, and I mean by a long long long way, this was the worst food experience on our Tassie trip. The food was so overpriced as well as taking an hour and a half to arrive. I'm happy to pay good money for thoughtful, well prepared food and am also happy to wait but this was a complete joke. We ordered a Porterhouse $32 which was poorly cooked and consisted of more grissle than meat, a Chicken Parmi $26 which was a thin ex-frozen special with some weird salsa and 'blah' cheese and thirdly a Burger $22 with no mince pattie but a thin steak-like replacement on an old bun, the canned beetroot slice was it's only redeeming feature. All three dishes were served up with copious amounts of crinkle cut frozen chips and salads that looked like they'd been prepared by a four year old. Seriously if a pub is going to charge these prices they've gotta do better because these are pretty simple Aussie tried and tested dishes! The beer was really the only thing worth consuming. All I can think is that we went there on the chefs night off! What do you do? You can't complain or demand your money back in a place like that ... All we could do in the end was laugh, so we did, to which that alone was worth the $100. This gastronomic experience will be shared with rolling belly laughs for many years to come. The people working there seemed nice enough but really it's a joke of a place to eat. Hopefully whoever runs the place will take note of this review. But please in the meantime, if you're hungry and driving through the area, seriously keep on driving, no seriously stay on the bitumen, stay hungry and keep on driving. All the best on your Tassie...
Read moreLake Leake Inn is an absolute treasure! Nestled in the heart of Tasmania, this charming inn offers the perfect blend of comfort, hospitality, and natural beauty. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and treated like family by the wonderful hosts.
The adjacent paddock was level and grassy and so much room for our caravan.
The food at the inn is exceptional, homemade meals that are hearty, delicious, and full of local flavours. We particularly enjoyed the 700gm tomahawk steak, a true Tasmanian delight! The bar is a great spot to relax in the evening, with a fantastic selection of local beers and wines.
The location is perfect for exploring the stunning East Coast of Tasmania, with easy access to hiking trails, fishing spots, and nearby attractions. But honestly, we were so content just soaking in the tranquility of the lake and the warm ambiance of the inn that we hardly wanted to leave.
