My husband and our son had "familymoon" in the main large cabin. It was utterly paradise and how I wished we had have stayed our entire familymoon here instead of going near Hobart. There are very friendly goats and a sheep out the back in their own paddock, who loved munching on carrots and other fruit and veggies that we hand fed them. The cabin itself was very large with four bedrooms, one with it's own toilet just off the room. There is a spa in the main bathroom, it is kept lovely and clean. The cabin came with eveything that you'd need, including a slow cooker, which was perfect for putting on a meal in the morning, for tea to be ready when you get home at night (though I'd add water/wine/stock as it does seem to cook a little too hot, our meat lost all of it's juices and started to burn, I just adding some liquid fixed the issue). The stove is the most beautiful stove I've ever had the pleasure to use. It is large consisting of 8 burners, grill and the large oven. The stove is stainless steal, so easy to clean. The rangehood is great, illuminating what you're cooking, with a good strong fan. In the lounge there is a little nook to do writing or reading (a lamp would be great in this little area) just off the sunken lounge, which has a tv, fire place and utterly heavenly Italian leather couches. There are also a massive amount of movies, all different genres for you to use and games for the whole family to play. The lounge looks out over a lovely garden and also the stunning mountains in the background. The views from this place is incredible. The theme is a Trapper's cottage, with animals heads and full small creatures mounted on the wall. There are wonderful little tidbits on the walls about trapping that are very interesting to read. There are also a small range of books available in the cabin for reading. There is an animal sanctuary basically next door. We visited the Caves, The Honey shop and Tasmazia during our stay at Mole Creek Cabins. It is also not far from Deloraine, where there are a good array of shops to buy anything needed. We explored the little towns surrounding Mole Creek and found cute little second hand shops and great locations to just explore. Word of warning, Mole Creek Hotel food is not worth the money, it was all frozen food reheated. The steak I ordered was meant to be rare, it was well done. My husband's 'seafood platter' was reheated, deepfried rubbish you could buy at any grocery store, even the vegetables were reheated frozen rubbish, which is a shame as there were was so much fresh produce around, you think they'd be able to serve something fresh. I ended up not eating my meal and asking for a refund, which they did, thankfully. So, if you're after a great getaway, with wonderful views, close to a lot of family and couples entertainment, I'd have to recommend Mole Creek Cabins, it was the best holiday I've ever had, the best place I've ever stayed at. Thank you also for our free bottle of bubblies for our honeymoon, it was...
Read moreThe photos and views are fantastic with a very homely and cosy feel. Unfortunately, after that there were some let downs. Check in meant you were given a code to open the key safe to get your room key. A broken switch in the kitchen and exposed wires on the electic blanket controller didn't auger well. Tape on the exposed wires indicated someone know about it and had just tried to patch it up - c'mon, it should have just been replaced.|The bed was extremely hard and even the "couch" was just a wooden form with a thin cushion on top, as was the second, single bed. Because it was so cold overnight the heater had to be running all the time and the whole cabin creaked all night as the timber moved. Guests were required to wash and dry and put away all the dishes and even bag their rubbish and place it in another bin at the front of the property, otherwise there was a threat of charging you for "extra" cleaning. I'd wash the dishes anyway but I'd normally leave them to dry - then you know they've been washed at least. Frankly, I got the impression the owners were trying to do as little as possible other than change the bedsheets and get the guests to do the rest. Lovely views first thing in the morning but the overall experience was let down in other areas. Don't think I'd stay...
Read moreHusband and I spent 5 nights at the Trappers Lodge over Christmas with our 12 and 14 yo. We were all impressed! Firstly, the rustic charm and decor was cosy and comfy, and the addition of some Christmas decoration and lighting was a lovely, thoughtful touch. The children were stoked to have a hot tub, their own double beds and wifi. Hubby and I were impressed with the well appointed kitchen that was loaded with all the appliances and extras you might need in a home away from home, and the fire place in the sunken lounge room that came pre stacked ready to light. The beds were comfy, the rooms were clean and the views of the mountain were beautiful. As promised.
Staying over Christmas meant we were there during a lot of public holidays. The owners were thoughtful enough to create a list of local places (from supermarkets to cafes and restaurants) and their opening hours over the holiday season. They even emailed to us so we had time to plan. Checking in and out was also very simple.
This was our first time visiting TAS, and we were very happy with our stay here.
