We have been here plenty of times over the years, but this is the first time we have camped here. We had a pleasant site by the river. We weren't too impressed with the amount of people that think it's perfectly alright to just walk through your campsite, or the attitude when we questioned it, I guess that's how it is back home for them. Price is reasonable. The showers and toilets are serviceable, and no extra cost. The hand dryers aren't heated, which was less than pleasant, combined with the cold water, when washing my arthritic hands in the cooler months. But that's only a minor gripe. Some people need fire safety education. Leaving fires that are well and truly going when vacating a site isn't really very clever, even it is by a river. Also, cans don't burn. We'll probably camp here again, but definitely not during school holidays. We imagine it would be pretty well patronised then. Especially as you can have up to 10 people to a site. $21 for up to 2, $5 extra per person. Must vacate by 10am, unless previously arranged. Not all sites have fireplaces, which are extra, but you can bring a firepot/stove as long as it doesn't sit straight on the grass, and of course it's not during restrictions. Also on the subject of fires, there's ample signage with conditions of use of the park, and one of those conditions is about where you can, and can't light a fire. It seems that a lot of people either don't comprehend English, or willfully ignore it when they just light their fire on the ground. I'm sure those same people wouldn't be impressed if their visitors did that to their lawn at home. It doesn't add to the charm of the place, random piles of charcoal and stones, that is. Great for little kids to play in. Plenty of room for the little uns to burn off energy, including a playground. Dog friendly. Camp kitchen, electric BBQs. A kiosk. There's plenty to like.
Update.
We have been here during school holidays, and it was a long weekend. Yes it was packed, but, at least the site we were at, there's plenty of space between sites, and it's not too bad. Yes you get the occasional squealing kids, but where don't you. Expect to have to book well in advance in those times though, at least if you want to be able to pick your favourite spot. River frontage is premium,...
Read moreI was with family about 3 weeks ago intending to enjoy a nice family BBQ tea. The family have been going there for years and have found it a lovely place to meet with friends. This time....they turned up as they always have done. Then after a while we were approached by a pair of very straggly, hippy type people asking if we had signed in???? No they hadn't as they never had to before.....then they told told us of some other fancy people who had had a hut prior to us being there and reckoned they had trashed it........we checked it out after they had left us and it was fine....just hadn't put the fire out in the hut. was going out though. then they came back again saying we have to be gone by 7:00pm if we weren't camping....who finishes a BBQ for tea by 7:00pm when you only turned up at 5:30pm.....then later came over and asked if we'd finished with the BBQ and asked us to clean it up.....talk about pressing and in your face!!! we all agreed it wasn't a place to be at any more and are looking for somewhere else. We cleaned it all up like we were going to anyway but don't talk about their toilets!!!! smelly, dirty and definitely not as the family had found them other times... Definitely not what you need when you just want a nice...
Read moreToilets and showers are gross not cleaned daily. Maybe only twice a week. Yuck bbq not clean at all, apart from lazy campers who don't bring a steelo pad, dish washing liquid when camping to clean up after themselves, the bbq may get cleaned once a week. Proprietor plays symphony card for attention so campers have no option but to hear her sob stories over and over again, "l mean who does that?" Not good practice when running a business arghhhhh.
