As far as accommodation standard is concerned, the Postmasters Suite was excellent. Very luxuriously appointed, with ultra modern conveniences, tasteful furnishings and huge proportions. Other than very dim lights throughout (could barely read in the living areas) and a hazardous half step into the lounge room, it was faultless.||||Unfortunately, the experience was marred by the following:||* Check in email was never sent by the owner. We arrived to a deserted property and spent half an hour trying to contact the owner/Booking.com. Took the owner 20 mins to return the call.||* Booking.com never returned our call to verify our identity (we never received the email with the required PIN).||* The property is surrounded by electric fences and my partner was zapped quite painfully when brushing against it. There are no signs and when saying this could be very hazardous, especially for children, the owner simply replied that the property is not set up for children!||* Took both the owner and the local Rep two hours to respond to a request advising us where we could find the red filtered torches for penguin watching. They ended up not being available.||||As it turns out, the owner no longer lives in Stanley and the place now appears to operate as an AirBNB style accommodation. This may not appeal to some as it is quite isolated and has a somewhat eerie and abandoned feel to it, especially when the other two cottages are empty. There is also about half a kilometre or so of gravel road leading to the property. I would not feel confident of a swift response to a more urgent situation.||||The seclusion may appeal to some, but for us, a better option would have been to stay closer to town, which is very quaint and nice to walk around. We'll be doing that for future...

Read moreWe had stayed at The Cable Station in 2019 and it was superb. Every aspect of the accommodation was beyond our expectations back in 2019. It was then a B&B providing more than enough breakfast provisions each and every day. It also had a site manager who was looking after the property. This time it is no longer a B&B. Therefore you have to provide your own meals which is ok but there is no microwave inside your accommodation and you have to walk outside into the guest laundry (which had a terrible odour to it - which made you not want to eat your dinner afterwards) to use the shared microwave. You also had to wash your plates and dishes up in the guest laundry tub after you had eaten your dinner. In 2019 every inch of the accommodation had been maintained to an excellent standard. This time, the shower door leaked and the shower drain clogged. Whilst the view and the uniqueness of this property is still wonderful, the rooms need to be maintained to a better standard and a sink and microwave (or some cooking facilities) need to be put inside the accommodation. The bed is the best bed we have ever slept in so that is a positive for wanting to stay here. Staying here for 1 or 2 nights is ok but we stayed for 5 nights and I would not recommend that length of stay here unless they attend to the...
