Truffle lodge is a perfect escape for anyone trying to get away from the busy city life. My wife and I booked a tent along with a couple of our friends who booked a second tent.||From the outset, the staff at Truffle Lodge seemed to be very organised and welcoming. Few days prior to embarking on our adventure to Truffle Lodge, we were sent multiple emails regarding the Lodge and it's surroundings, along with inquries regarding our food preferences. ||The tent is definitely one of luxury, with almost all the amenities in it. We had a mini fridge, flask, dryers, heaters, a fan and a safe to name a few. While the tent is quite luxurious - it needs to be noted that it is a tent and that you may find a few spiders making themselves at home. But then again, that is a part of the adventure and the "glamping" experience. There are insecticides in the room - so there are means to get rid of any unwanted guests. ||The food at Truffle Lodge is really good as well. We were unable to fault any of the meals (breakfast & dinner). Breakfast tends to be the same every morning. Dinner on the other hand, changes every night. If you have any dietary requirements, let the staff know before hand, they will do their best to provide the best service.||We loved the living area at the lodge, which is separate from all the tents. There is a cosy, yet elegant vibe to it. We ended up spending time there (until 2 AM) chatting and playing board/card games. However, make sure to take a torch with you when going outside as it is quite dark during night time. While there are small path lights, they don't tend to be quite helpful. If you're lucky (or unlucky - depending on your preference towards wild animals), you will be able to meet a few of the resident wallabies, Tasmanian devils and possums. They only come out at night (at least in our experience).||Overall, Truffle Lodge is a fantastic place with great hospitality. Will definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for something different to the regular hotel stay.||A special mention to Tim for his hospitality throughout our stay. He manages the place very well. Also, a thank you to John for the lovely conversations, and to Madhu for her tidy housekeeping work and...
Read moreThe Truffle lodge is a paradise away from the hustle and bustle of the city - but still within a 30-45 minute drive to so many points of interest (MONA, Hobart, National Parks, Distilleries, small towns etc etc).||||It really is geared more for couples than families (at least in my opinion). It is an experience in itself - and my husband and I loved it.||||+The bed was very very comfortable.||+I had the pleasure of soaking in the BEST bath tub I've ever had the chance to use - AMAZING (see the photos).||+The staff were there if you needed them, very happy to have a chat, but also gave you space if you needed it.||+The location. A stunning location beside the river, but yet close to so many things.||+ The Food. We had dinner each night (which is very convenient given you're a little isolated from restaurants at night) + breakfast each morning. Brekkie and Dinner were really quite good. Bottles of wine are available to purchase and they are very reasonably priced (not stupidly marked up like at a restaurant or a hotel).||+ There are a few fireplaces in some of the common areas so you can chill out (or warm up) and relax without going back to your tent.||||There is one warning I would like to make. You are sleeping in a massive yet stupidly comfortable tent - insulation is not really a thing. It was VERY cold at night while we were there (5-6 degrees) - the inside of the tent got very very cold. We were warm under the blankets, but the ambient air temperature in the tent was cold, our face was cold, it was cold in the morning....well until you jumped into the amazing bath :) This could be a deal breaker for some people, so if it is, avoid the very cool months (although they do shut over winter believe). That being said, there's something about that bath - and the fireplace at night - which made me long for the...
Read moreWe based ourselves at gorgeous Truffle Lodge to explore the beautiful Derwent Valley. It is the perfect location to venture out during the day and then unwind in the absolute tranquility in the evening. The hospitality was exceptional and featured a simple, but delicious menu showcasing Tasmanian produce. Our accommodation was peaceful and unique, the glamping tents are wonderful with pretty views of the river and farmland beyond from the large decks. Staying here was one of the highlights of our trip to Tasmania. Our thanks to the staff who were all incredibly welcoming, knowledgable and...
