We stayed in a Getaway Cabin (#4) in May and were extremely disappointed in the cabin itself - it's not fit for rental!

After we unpacked we noticed the kids bedroom didn’t have a blind, I contacted reception and after 2 phone calls and a visit to reception over a 3hr period, someone finally came out (after dark) and put some black plastic over the window. There was no apology or care factor from the man I spoke to at reception, in fact his whole attitude came across like he didn't give a toss and I was unreasonably frustrated. Zero customer service skills! Mixed responses from the woman on reception and him about if they knew the cabin had a blind or not, I'm aware there's likely no blinds laying around but also don't feel it's unreasonable in any way to ask for something to cover the window.

Over the course of the weekend we discovered this long list of issues with our cabin: **Bathroom - exhaust fan didn’t work, no towel rails or hooks to hang a towel anywhere in the bathroom (rails were broken off the wall, just the brackets were left), cabinet under sink had a broken door, mould on the walls, shower curtain so long you had to stand on it to shower (gross!) **Toilet - a sink must have been ripped out at some point, looks shocking and could have been painted, mould on the walls, no bin (no bin in the bathroom either) **Balcony awning was missing one arm so it was sagging, almost touched our heads when standing underneath and held up by timer someone from maintenance has tied to the rail by thin rope - a few big gusts of wind would rip that awning off and be quite dangerous! Luckily, we had no wind. **Bedrooms - besides no blind on the kids window, one morning kids woke to wet floors, literally! Condensation ++ in their bedroom literally dripping off the ceiling down the wall on the window side, mould on the walls too **Main bedroom - mould on walls (big patch right near the bed head), cobwebs ++ around air con (clearly hasn't been dusted up there for a long time) **Kitchen - random wall cupboards opposite the sink had no doors or shelves and were in quite a dangerous placement along the wall - cannot believe no one hit their face on them coming around the corner, a fry pan had mould all over it - absolutely revolting, cupboards all smelt damp **None of the blinds in the cabin had chains fastened to the walls (which is illegal in a rental so assume it's illegal in a holiday park rental too - major choking hazard for young children)., many of the blinds had mould on them too

The cabin hasn't had a proper clean in a long time, pics attached of this cabin.

While we enjoyed the park itself (great location, peaceful, so pretty in Autumn, park & bike track the kids enjoyed, cafe reasonable prices and food was pretty good) ... it was the worst cabin we have ever stayed at and for $290/night, we were far from impressed.

I contacted the park via email after we left with all the feedback that I have posted here, their response was "I’m so sorry that your Del Rio experience was an unpleasant one. We strive to make each of our guests experience an enjoyable and happy one, and we hold our park & staff to a high standard. In this case, we clearly fell short. Please be assured that your concern and issues have been forwarded to the park owners and our cleaning contractors for review. We will do everything we can to make sure this doesn’t happen again". They initially offered us 50% off a return stay - which was of no interest so they refunded us 50% of our stay.

Not sure if this park has sold recently or it's still on the market, clearly owners are not maintaining it or seem to care about the health and safety of visitors, so disappointing. We won't be back...

DO NOT STAY HERE — ESPECIALLY IF YOU VALUE BASIC SAFETY OR HUMAN DECENCY.

We stayed at Del Rio Resort for a 4-day disability camp, and the experience was nothing short of horrific. One of our children fell over 2.5 metres off a broken railing in the accommodation — and not a single staff member offered an apology, showed compassion, or even attempted to check if the child was okay. The lack of empathy was absolutely appalling.

What kind of place doesn’t take a situation like that seriously? Instead of taking responsibility, the staff acted like it was no big deal. They were shockingly rude, dismissive, and clearly couldn’t care less that a child had just had a serious fall due to their complete neglect of safety standards. If anything, they seemed more inconvenienced than concerned. Zero accountability. Zero professionalism.

The facilities were equally disgraceful. Broken bathroom doors, sliding doors hanging off their tracks, showers that barely worked (if at all), and a level of dirt and filth that made the place feel completely unsanitary. For a venue that hosts families, schools, and vulnerable groups, this is absolutely unacceptable. The place looked and felt like it hadn’t been properly cleaned or maintained in years.

It’s one thing to stay somewhere a little run-down, but this wasn’t just “worn” — it was dangerous, disgusting, and totally mismanaged. The fact that they continue to take bookings while ignoring basic safety hazards is disturbing.

If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat, a family getaway, or a safe space for a group — DO NOT COME HERE. The photos online are completely misleading, the staff are the rudest I’ve encountered in my life, and the conditions are nothing short of shocking. I wouldn’t let my worst enemy stay here.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I’ve worked in disability for 3 years and never have I seen anything like what we just experienced

This place needs to be reported and investigated. Avoid it...

This park has so much potential if it was owned by people who cared about the park and put some effort into maintaining it... Stayed at this park Australia Day long weekend and I was not left overly impressed. If you are camping and have your own shower then this is a great spot to camp with lots of wild life and easy access to the river if you have a boat. Staff were extremely helpful and accommodating however, I was mainly concerned with the following; The people who own this place need to do some serious renovations to the bathroom as they are old (but clean). The cabins/villas were full of bugs and dirty. Screen doors are hard to open/close and the cutlery/plates provided were dirty. We would have honestly been better off swimming in a septic tank than the pool on site. Just don't bother, its cloudy because of who knows what and the river is right there, just go there instead of the pool. Forget about getting any sleep, once staff leave for the day young revellers get loud and rowdy. Tried calling the emergency after hours line but spoke to a man who sounded like he could not give a damn about what was happening and the noise and partying continued until 3am+ They do not seem to mow the law, be prepared for some itchy ankles. You would think on one of the busiest weekends of the year you would pull the mower out and mow the lawn but apparently not. The general vibe of the park is run down, old and like nobody gives cares. The staff are not to blame at all, management and the owners clearly do not care about this park and the staff are trying their best. Hopefully a decent owner, who is willing to spend a little bit of money on the place comes along to buy it off the current owners as there is so much potential here and it is very sad to see that the owners or staff...

Had a fantastic time spent camping with family. We had a powered site which was perfect for us. Our site was missing access to water for some reason but luckily we had a vacant site next to us so we could use that tap. Grounds were in good shape considering the recent floods. The pool was a bit murky from a lot of use and the cabins (some family stayed in them) definitely need some attention, alot of damage from flooding etc but still good enough for a few nights stay. Only minimal Telstra service, no other service. Little cafe has some pizzas and burgers etc which looked alright. Tennis court was good but the putt putt golf needs a little TLC and unfortunately the golf course itself is not operational. The toilets become quite a mess a few times, as well as running out of toilet paper for the whole night. Overall had a wonderful time here, lots of swims in the river and making most of the amenities. Location is lovely and secluded, needing to take the ferry to access the resort. With time and money, this resort should bounce back beautifully. The kids all loved the space to ride bikes and run freely. I'm sure we will be back again some day.

Del Rio is a great location with friendly staff perfect for those with boats and looking to get away its have some fun on the water..the only setbacks were the lack of money put back into the place just looks a little run down could be one of the best parks around ..the biggest let down was the pool way undersized for the amount of people at del rio and it was discusting as a pool owner I understand it's hard to keep control at all times but this had been let go the water was yellow with an oily film on top and brown grime on tiles that had obviously not looked after propley for an extended period of time..I got sick after my first swim of a 10 day stay still had a blast and enjoyed my time but didn't not get back in that pool and heard the same from so many family's even in the 40 degree heat the river was the go
