Our daughter booked this for us when we came to see her graduation from Kokoda Barracks.||She paid $777 for three nights ($259 per night), which in my books is an absolute premium price. The placed offered 'luxury glamping' and indeed the facilities were lovely, however we felt that hospitality and generosity was lacking.||What was good:||The tents were solid and well maintained||The king size bed was comfortable||The spa was hot and had been pre-warmed for our arrival.||What was not:||Complimentary toiletries were not replenished||No hooks to hang your clothes in the bathroom||No hairdryer||Nowhere to put your toiletry bag in the bathroom||Tea/ coffee/ milk were not replenished during our stay- and a couple of scrunched up Lipton tea bags is not luxury in my opinion||We had a fire in the fire pit one night and used the meagre supplies of wood. The lighter and the matches supplied did not work - it was lucky we'd brought our own. No more wood was supplied and it was difficult to find any ourselves because the property had been well cleared. When we did find wood, we didn't have anything to cut it up with.||There were a lot of mosquitos around and a can of aerogard would have been very handy.||It was really cold at night and there were no spare blankets||The pillows were old and flat.||Overall, the owners did not come near us the whole time we were there. They'd have had no idea about all of this because they did not check.||It is a shame because the place is lovely, but I really don't think the owners have any understanding about how to provide good hospitality. Our impression was that they felt they were doing...
Read moreWent here for anniversary. it was perfect weekend even in a moonboot!!!
Very clean. Gorgeous view, spa is HOT, clean and BIG. We had gorgeous old brown dog (I think it was from other neighbours) come visit at bbq area, which just made our holiday even better. No animals come near tent due to thing they got plugged in to deter. Close to little town for food/coffee. In our tent was a jar of dragon fruit jam 😋 I would of bought some if I could!
Moonboot meant couldn't explore much. But tent and spa were perfect. Other positives: big soft bed (with heated sheets, fan in room, no air-conditioning but not issue at night and daytime you go outside) kitchen basic but got what you need, Bbq was bit fancy! We sat by firepit for dinner and star gazed. All instructions/ info/ communication was direct and clear. Lots of little helpful things (magnetic torch etc) in tent. Beautiful nature noise dusk and dawn in particular.
OK negatives: There are white curtains on balcony but does not give full coverage... Sometimes would of liked full privacy on balcony. However, never saw anyone from balcony. Can hear local neighbours just a little sometimes ,not other tent to be clear! Like the brown dog, I actually liked it, and made holiday better for us :). Does get hot during day in tent but nice on balcony. temperture perfect at night to cuddle in tent:)
I do recommend tuckers retreat. Happy with money paid, feel we got good value....
Read moreThe comfy Queen-sized bed and the outlook from that bed is spectacular. (We were in Flying Fox, and I suspect it has the better view of eth two tents.)|And the birdlife in the morning... like having one's own orchestra playing just outside!|The Spa is large for two people and was always at the right temperature. |Convenient accessibility to the property.||However, the tent itself is a bit "tired" = old and worn. The zips don't close fully at the bottom of the front flyscreens. Not a problem for us but probably allows mozzies in during summer. The toilet bowl was stained, as was the "bathroom" floor.|Really, given the apparent size of the land, it would have been more of a glamping experience if the tent was just a little bigger (especially the bathroom and little kitchenette). There was nowhere to hang any clothes, just some space behind the bed to put your bag/suitcase.||There are "neighbours" just 100 m down the hill (the manager's residence?) - you can see it on the right in the property's photo. There are a tall fence and substantial trees to block direct views of this property and vice versa. However, you can clearly hear the sounds of people (especially children) outside and this detracts a little from the sense of seclusion that would otherwise prevail. It also dampens any passion to engage in noisy intimate...
