Where to even start... What a place! The establishment itself is stunning, the rooms are super clean and the decor is very thought out and detailed. It is located on the same premises as Northerlies Restaurant which is one of the best restaurants in all of the Whitsundays. The restaurant is so good that people from Airlie Beach travel to eat there because of it’s great reputation. They even have a whole vegan menu available. The pool views are stunning! It actually reminds me of an infinity pool. We stayed at two types of rooms for my wife’s 30th. The ‘Windward Room’ had amazing views, the double shower and two bathrooms were fabulous and of course the views were stunning! The other was the ‘Beach Shack’ blew us away even more! We literally had our own private beach and lawn. Our own private huge deck with furniture everywhere you would want. It had huge glass folding open doors (like out of a movie), a window bar inside that you could view the beachfront directly out front and there were many other fabulous unique things.
The reception area is cosy, classy and also has stunning views. The huge glass doors fold open the whole long side (meters), it looks amazing and futuristic near the stunning pool! There are so many spots to sit and relax. We loved the beautiful decking on top of the old famous ship. It looked incredible and had the comfiest egg chair in all of Queensland.
Now enough about the views, rooms, food and venue. What separates this accomodation from other excellent and five star places if the staff! We had Jodie and Annelise look after is for our stay. I don’t think I knew that service this good existed. Not only are they lovely, welcoming people but they are so professional and still make you feel like you are staying somewhere very homely. You don’t feel like a number, you don’t feel like you’re staying in a strange place. You feel like this is your second home but you’re treated like a queen! The wonderful managers are always ready to help whether they are meeting you to help you with your luggage as you arrive, calling you Taxis or telling you about unique places to visit (that only the locals know about). Recommending Tours depending on what you want and your physical capability. When you have your complimentary fresh yummy breakfast every morning, the moment you walk through the door they have your special needs ready like our almond milk, they are ready to make you a special coffee and even give you towels as you walk out the door for your tours as they could see we forgot. We also loved having room service available from all the rooms and felt very special with our personal turndown service every night. Our lovely surprise on my wife’s birthday night of champagne and yummy Toblerone chocolates was such a kind and surprising gesture.
All the locals we met either knew or knew about Jodie. We felt very lucky to be looked after and stay at an establishment run by Jodie. She has done such an amazing job with Freedom Shores to make it super unique and a holiday destination that will be remembered. I can only assume by how perfectly everything ran that Annelise was obviously the perfect fit! Both Jodie and Annelise make your whole experience that extra bit more special and...

This also means sounds from your neighbours travel through the doors as if nothing was there plus the walls were paper thin.||Our neighbours liked to talk/ shout/ listen to music at 3 million decibels and by 22:40 we had enough and called put a duty manager for our noise complaint. He did attend, entered our room, acknowledging it was too loud and went to speak to the adjoining room.||We told him at the time that we were not happy with how sound travels through the rooms and that we wanted to check out in the morning and cancel our 2nd and third night.||This we did, particularly after further hours in the room with a rock hard mattress and listening to the neighbours , snore, flick light switches on /off.. yes the walls were that thin.||I should also add there’s notices in the room that they are licensed venue therefore you were forbidden to consume any of your own alcohol in your room. Quite bizzare never seen that before. They are happy to provide 375ml wine bottles ( half size) for $33 though, that’s having a laugh .||In the interest of fairness and balance to this review, the boat rooms I could imagine would have been a much different experience as all were detached rooms for what we could see.||The grounds themselves are stunning along with the views and location.||Unfortunately my wife and I had a very different experience and after a sleepless uncomfortable stay we did not want to put ourselves through 2 more days of that.||We rang management the following morning explaining our position and was told in no uncertain terms that we would forfeit all monies paid as there was “ nothing wrong” with the room and it was state of origin on the tv .. again a bizzare reason. So we have lost over $1000.||We consider this excessive and unfair . I acknowledge the short notice of us deciding not to stay however it was not our intent not to stay . We left for reason not for the lack of nothing better to do.||Totally none understanding management who took zero ownership of our experience and no doubt they will rehire them whilst on paper we have paid for them…...
