Turn left along Balline drive about 600 metres off George Grey drive you've just exited. Follow the well worn road as turning right takes you to an overgrown track impossible to turn around in and your vehicle will be scratched considerably if you do reach the end and turn around then - about 2km. Free camping was at 18/10/2016 but gazetted camping grounds were under construction with dry toilets and no potable water is available. Hard pan ring roads are constructed navigable in 2 wheel drive with firm sand camping bays. Camping fees are $15. per vehicle per night from about February 2017. 2 wheel drive access to near the beach, along road recently graded in September 2016. Minor soft spots near caretaker's cottage - use forward momentum to go over them - don't stop then start in those spots. 2 elevated dry toilet blocks indicate both the southern and Northern area camping grounds and the extent of 2 wheel driving's reach. Read moreThis campsite is beautiful, hubby and I spent a week here with our dog early august and it was so much more than we expected. Plenty of campsites in the camp ground or you can camp right on the beach. $15 per car per night, clean drop toilets always had toilet paper, dog friendly, camp fires allowed (some sites have fire pits), wood can be purchased for $20 a bag at the rangers station, geni’s allowed during day time. No phone reception unless you drive up on to the dunes which is well worth the look as the sand is like talcum powder with views of the amazing beach one side and green hills the other. About 30mins drive to Kalbarri and 15mins to the Lynton Heritage site which is well worth the look for a gold coin donation. Honestly can’t fault this place, we will most...
Read moreThe perfect camp spot when you're traveling off-grid!! We visited Kalbarri with nothing booked in, in the middle of school holidays and our little dog with us, so chances of finding a pet friendly place to stay were slim, until we got told about Lucky Bay Shacks from the local Ray White in town. We were welcomed on arrival by volunteer campground hosts Carrol and Lindsay who were lovely and extremely helpful. Lucky Bay Shacks is pet friendly and only cost us $15 per night, so we stayed for 3 nights. We were able to drive through and pick our own camp spot with plenty to choose from. On site there were toilets, dumping points, bins and even fire pits which made our stay very enjoyable and easy. I'd highly recommend anyone to camp here, the sunset in the evening...
