Haus Pendl — Hotel in Abtenau

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I stayed here for two nights (07–09 October 2025) and it was one of the warmest and most memorable stays during my Europe trip.

The hosts, Hannaes and Franziska Schwarzenbacher, were truly wonderful. They kindly helped me get the Salzburg Verkehr Guest Mobility Ticket, which allowed free use of local buses and offered discounts at several tourist attractions — a thoughtful benefit that made exploring the area so convenient.

The guesthouse is located in Abtenau (H89W+F7 Abtenau, Austria) — about 35 minutes from Hallstatt and 50 minutes from Salzburg, making it a perfect base for sightseeing.

The room was spotless and cozy. The mattress and pillows were extremely comfortable, and the bathroom was clean with excellent water pressure and perfectly warm water.

Breakfast was delightful — homemade jams, plenty of cheese and ham, and freshly brewed coffee and tea. The hosts even encouraged guests to take some of the remaining food for lunch, which showed their genuine care and hospitality.

They also surprised me with a lovely personal gift — a gesture that truly touched my heart. I felt more like visiting kind friends than staying in accommodation.

I left Abtenau a little heavier (the food was just too good!) and much happier. I promised Hannaes and Franziska that I would return the next time I visit Munich. Highly recommended — a stay full of warmth, care,...

What an incredible spot. Franziska and Johannes are fantastic hosts. So kind, chatty and always looking out for their guests. The rooms were cozy and clean and had all sorts of little goodies for free! Sparkling wine, chocolate, lotion, eye masks, soap, sanitizer. Amazing, this is what one calls great hospitality. Great location, nice views on mountains and quiet place. Great for a walk.

So rooms were nice, we got prosecco and some amenities. And gummies. Balcony was great.

And for breakfast, oh yes, there was a lot typical breakfast. Just yes.

And for the hostess, she was great, talkative, polite, and she even gave us goodbye gifts when leaving. Would recommend this place if u got chance of booking one of the rooms. ( we got lucky, last minute...
