Naturhotel Bauernhofer — Hotel in Anger

We stayed here for 3 nights and were very disappointed as the hotel didn't meet our expectations at all. Really poor value for money! ||The hotel is described as "a 4-star wellness hotel set in a quiet location amidst the Almenland Nature Park. Free parking and free WiFi are available". They are using shiny pictures of modern rooms and stunning landscape. But what you get is a rural, fairly old hotel situated on the main road of a tiny village with a small modern extension to the main house where the new rooms are located (and all pics for booking websites are taken). The interior of the main building is old fashioned. The rooms are clean but again very old fashioned. The quality of all linen and towels was bad and beds were very uncomfortable. The sound insulation was poor, you can hear your neighbours and as we were facing the backyard where the kitchen is located it was noisy until midnight as staff were cleaning dishes, sorting cutlery etc. There is no WiFi in the rooms and only bad reception in the communal areas. The garden is tiny with a play area for kids and facing the main road so no space to relax and unwind. The spa itself was modern, clean and you can enjoy the pool for a swim of you go there really early in the morning or late in the evening. ||Overall we were very disappointed as we felt the hotel was trying to lure people with the few modern rooms / facilities they have on offer but when you're there it's a completely different experience. We faced the reception staff with our findings and they blushed and only stumbled as if they knew what they were doing with guests. We've been to similar hotel categories in Austria and Germany before and they were way better. Will definitely...

Nice rooms in new part, great pool if you come out of busy time, otherwise it is small and can get crowded easily. Only one steam sauna, no kneip bath. Big resting area. Food in the restaurant is good quality but serving in the evenings take too long. As this is also family hotel, you would expect possibility of fast serving especially when you choose your meal in the morning. Prepare to spend at least one hour during dinner time - not good if you have small baby. On the other side there is baby room and play room next to restaurant so you can spend some time of dinner there. I give three stars because hotel is german only and you hardly find anything in english. No menu in english. Staff try their best to help you and you can find english speaking staff but this is not rule. You can walk in area with stroller but prepare this location is just a one road with five houses. Countryside is beautiful. Shop with local product next to the hotel. In the evening there is show in theathre next to the road so prepare to have closed window...

Wir haben dieses feine Hotel 3 Nächte genossen (dank der Anregung durch einen Gutschein von lieben Freunden), und ich möchte mich herzlichst für die wunderbare Zeit bedanken! Ich habe noch nie ein so überragendes Frühstücksbuffet erlebt. Sowohl die Auswahl als auch die Qualität waren sensationell - wo gibt es morgens bitte wechselnde warme Speisen wie Quiches, Gemüselasagne, Spinat-Cannelloni, Polentauflauf, Brotpudding, Kaiserschmarrn, Topfenpalatschinken...zudem eine Flut an selbstgemachten Aufstrichen samt Gemüsetartar/Räucherfischtartar neben all den klassischen Dingen wie Wurst-Käseplatten (auch sehr reichhaltig!), Eier/Speck/Würstchen, Obstsalat, Hausmüsli, Brot & Gebäck, Kuchen etc.? Sensationell auch das Beerenragout, das definitiv keine Tiefkühlmischung ist, sondern von einem regionalen Produzenten stammt. Auch nicht selbstverständlich sind eine Kaffeemaschine, die hervorragende Heißgetränke produziert, und eine außerordentliche Teebar. Unfassbar gute und außergewöhnliche Salate beim Mittagssnack und Abendessen, exzellente Küche in jedem Gang! Das Ambiente des Restaurants ist auch sehr gelungen, finde ich. Alle Mitarbeiter waren außerdem freundlich, aufmerksam und zuvorkommend. Als ich nach 10 Uhr noch mit dem Frühstückskaffee im Freien saß, wurde ich 2x vom Chef persönlich gefragt, ob er mir noch etwas bringen darf - einfach nett! Wir konnten auch ganz unkompliziert die (eigentlich 2) verpassten Mittagssnacks (Arztbesuch, Wanderung) gegen den Abreisetag tauschen - danke dafür!

Bei der Ankunft fand ich die Lage zuerst nicht allzu berauschend - direkt an der Straße (auf der kaum Verkehr ist), gleich gegenüber und vorherrschend all die parkenden Autos der Hotel- und Tagesgäste. Die meisten (günstigeren) Zimmer, so auch unseres, liegen im alten Teil und sind 20 Jahre alt - trotzdem aber sauber, gemütlich und mit entzückenden Blümchenfliesen im Bad. Nachdem die Homepage hauptsächlich die modernen Räume und den Infinity-Pool zeigt, ist man durch diese Tatsachen zu Beginn vielleicht etwas enttäuscht. Die herzliche Atmosphäre und die vielen tollen Annehmlichkeiten machen das aber sehr rasch wett.

Der Spa-Bereich ist sehr, sehr nett und schön gemacht. Features wie Limetten- oder Orangenwasser, eine riesige Auswahl an Tees und knusprige Apfelchips machen es wirklich außerordentlich fein und schätzenswert. Wir hatten sehr gute Aufgüsse mit unterschiedlichen Mitarbeitern, alles fein! Mit 31 Grad ist das Wasser wärmer als in sonstigen Hallenbädern, auch super. Schade nur, dass es kein Becken im Nacktbereich gibt. Ein sehr warmes Whirlpool im Saunabereich wäre mein Wunsch....vielleicht als Anregung für die Zukunft. Ich finde es auch im Sinne der Umwelt gut, dass Handtücher nicht zur freien Entnahme angeboten werden. Man braucht nicht für jeden Saunagang ein frisches. Auf Anfrage bekommt man für den nächsten Tag aber sehr wohl ein neues.

Die Gegend rundum ist wunderschön und bietet ganz tolle Wanderungen. Mein Favorit: Plankogel - grenzgeniale Aussicht, weite Almen...
