Hotel Übergossene Alm Resort — Hotel in Dienten am Hochkönig

I was torn between 4 and 5 stars for the Übergossene Alm Resort. The spa area is brilliant. The outside relaxation area has the most impressive view of the mountains I’ve had so far in a spa hotel. The very modern panoramic sauna has incredible views as well. The sauna ceremonies are a very special entertainment and it’s so nice to dive into the refreshingly cold sauna pool afterwards. The jacuzzi has fresh mountain water without chlorine that gets completely drained and refilled after every use, which is great. There is a very large area for children to play around two small lakes. This area is very separated from the spa area so it never feels like you children running around stops you from relaxing. On the negative side: the breakfast and lunch is ok, the dinner is decent, however service in the restaurant varies between very slow and non-existent depending on the day and waiter. The rooms and bathrooms have not been refurbished in a very long time, the walls and windows are so thin that you can hear everything in the corridor. Half of the rooms face a busy road that is full of motorcyclists who will wake you up by 8 the latest unless you’re an early riser anyway. The shower sometimes has literally no water, assuming that happens when you neighbour showers at the same time. Unfortunately, because of the food & restaurant service quality as well as the rooms, the Übergossene Alm Resort only deserves 4 stars, as I’ve been to several other mountain resorts where the spa, the restaurant and the rooms were all spot on. Absolutely fantastic! Truly amazing. Gorgeous resort, area and views. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Fair warning; this place is a FINE resort. It is fancy and no-doubt normally does not have many regular people like us (we used points, paid the extra, were there in the off-season and had a basic room). When I say fancy, I mean five forks at dinner and a five-course meal of tiny, artfully displayed dishes. The self-serve food and drinks available all afternoon were excellent, and more our style, while we relaxed on the beautiful terrace with fantastic views, after two hard-days of hiking. There is an incredible wellness/pool area. They offer seven different types of sauna. Seven! Words of wisdom to the uninitiated: In Austria, Marcus the very friendly Spa Master kindly explained, people in the saunas are expected to be nude (but lie only on a towel, not naked on the wood!). I feel like a real rube writing this, and I have traveled to 19 countries, but I had no idea there were seven types of saunas or that one was expected to be nude (which was fine by me but embarrassing as I didn't know, nor was it explained). I loved the amenities, though our room was really hot overnight with several very annoying flies. We had some technical issues with our phone, which had our hiking maps, etc. Vanessa, the woman at the desk, was fantastic! She very patiently helped us try to login to GaiaGPS and spent quite awhile helping us coordinate our hike out and bus/train back to Salzburg. The stay was an awesome experience, truly first class and five stars. If it is in your budget, you aren't uncomfortable in fancy surroundings or being around folks with lots of money, I definitely recommend...

Wir sind zum zweiten Mal im Hotel gewesen. Bei unserem ersten Aufenthalt 2017 waren wir total begeistert, das waren wir diesmal leider nicht. Wir kamen wegen einer Flugverspätung erst nach dem Abendessen an und mussten aufgrund dessen unsere Koffer selbst aufs Zimmer bringen. Statt eines Abendessens gab es eine Brotzeit in der Bar. Bis dahin war für uns noch alles ok. Das Personal war gewohnt freundlich und der Direktor des Hauses, Herr Christoph Fuchsberger ist der beste Direktor den wir je kennen lernen durften. Er ist sehr authentisch, freundlich und hilfsbereit und er hat Ahnung von allem was er tut und sagt, egal in welchem Bereich des Hauses. An ihm kann sich der Besitzer des Hauses, Herr Burgschweiger gleich mehrere Scheibe abschneiden. Herr Burgschweiger grüßt besonders seine, so mein Eindruck, sehr wohlhabenden Gäste und schafft es sogar, mit diesen Menschen smalltalk zu halten. Wir waren da nicht so interessant, an uns ging er vorbei ohne zu grüßen. Einmal hat er es geschafft sich doch noch einmal umzudrehen und ein Grüß Gott rauszubringen. Schade, denn ich habe in jungen Jahren mal gelernt, dass der Gast König ist, und zwar jeder Gast. (Ich bin in einer Gaststätte groß geworden). Beim Frühstück hatte die ein oder andere Bedingung Verständnisprobleme aufgrund ihrer Heimatsprache. So kam es dazu, dass ich mir z. B.meinen Cappuccino selbst holte, denn sie verstand nicht, dass wir Kaffee und Cappuccino wollten. Sonst war das Frühstück in gewohnter Qualität. Die Jause am Mittag entsprach dagegen eher einem Kantinenessen. Das Essen insgesamt war nicht mehr so delikat wie bei unserem ersten Besuch, wo wir uns doch so auf das abendliche genießen gefreut hatten. Der Wein beim Abendessen wurde ständig nachgefüllt, man konnte denken, es gibt eine Provision fürs Personal je nach Menge. Wir haben dem natürlich Einhalt geboten. In der Bar gab es z. B. für einen Ramazzotti kein passendes Glas, auch für Averna nicht. Das Getränk wurde in einem Longdrink-Glas serviert. Beim Ramazzotti mussten wir Eis und Zitrone extra bestellen, der wurde uns bei der ersten Bestellung im Schnapsglas serviert. Zum Schluss möchte ich nochmal den von uns beim ersten Aufenthalt so geliebten Wellnessbereich ansprechen. Hier gab es damals den Saunameister Reini, der Wellness in diesem Haus zum Erlebnis der besonderen Art gemacht hat. Der Saunameister Reini ist aber jetzt im Ruhestand und kommt nur noch zweimal in der Woche. Statt dessen gibt es in der Panoramasauna automatische Aufgüsse ab 15:00 Uhr zu jeder vollen Stunde. Wenn’s nicht so traurig wäre würde ich sagen, auch hier macht K I ( künstliche Intelligenz) und Automatismus keinen Halt. Am letzten Tag unseres Aufenthalts hatten wir das Glück, dass der Reini da war und uns auf unser bitten hin Aufgüsse gemacht.
