We only stayed one night here, at the end of an 8 hour walk as part of the Via Alpina trans-Alpine hiking route, with another 8 hour stage to the Italian border in prospect the next day. We were given a spacious family room, more a suite, for the two of us and looked after as well as if we had booked for a week.The Gasthof has been completely rebuilt alongside the original 19th century building and is romantically situated at the entrance to a gorge, steep sided mountains on either side and the ever present sound of the torrent as the soundtrack, music to our ears. The nearest villages (Finkenberg and Ginzling) are several kilometres away and the location is wonderfully isolated BUT there is a bus stop on the mountain road outside the hotel (little traffic noise) with regular buses to the glacier regions at the top of the valley and in the other direction to the worldly pleasures of Mayrhofen, a 20 minute bus drive away.
