Even if I try I will not find any negative aspect of my stay in this hotel. I visited it at the end of Feb/Mar 2019 and totally fell in love with it!||Starting with accommodation: a beautiful very spacious room with a mountain view and a large bathroom equipped with all you may need. Large bathtub and a lovely touch of locally produced bio cosmetics that allow you to smell the aroma of the Voralbergish Alps. If that's not enough hotel offers you to choose customized pillows to make sure you will sleep like a baby. I've chosen one filled with herbs from their bio garden and was falling asleep feeling the amazing alpine aromas. In the room, I was greeted with the welcome message and a bottle of lotion made from alpine herbs. Lovely touch again. ||I also appreciate that the room was equipped with bathrobes, slippers and a bag with spa/pool towels. Very useful!!||Dining: What a delicacy! During my stay, I was impatiently waiting for the mealtimes. Starting with breakfast: a huge buffet with everything you could imagine. Cold and warm. Including local cheeses and ham, smoked salmon, eggs in all forms, a huge variety of bread, sweets, and fruits. It was not possible to try it all. ||Dinners: High-class gastronomy. Local tastes with a modern gastronomy touch. Compliments to the chef!! Very good Austrian wines. Great salad bar (I appreciated it very much as I like to eat smtg else than only meat and cheese when I am on my skiing vacation). ||Hospitality: Simply amazing!!!!!!!! From a smiling and lovely reception desk. Service staff dressed in dirndl - I loved that. From being accompanied to my room, welcoming gift and a lovely message left in the room toa welcome drink offered by the owners. Their story about the hotel and their journey to support the local community and making the hotel being absolutely ecological. To the absolute care of the small details like assigning the Polish-speaking waiter to my table. BTW Jacek the waiter was an absolute star!!!!! So nice, so professional with a warm touch!!! He deserves a raise :-D Jacek to byłeś cudowny!! to była ogromna przyjemność!!! ||To the beautifully dressed table on the day of my birthday (still don't know how did the know?) and a farewell message. ||Infrastructure: THE SPA My goodness!!!!!! This is just too beautiful!!! Spacious, peaceful, calming. Never seen anything like this. Saunas with a direct view of the mountains or stars. Fireplace (i loved it!!!!!!), tones of fresh towels, teas, fruits, bubbles etc. If they didn't close it at 11 pm I would stay there till the morning. A bliss. ||As I skier I can't skip the issue of ski room. The one at Hotel Krone is perfect. Located on the ground floor (so you don't have to walk on stairs in your ski boots - this is so dangerous) spacious, with modern ski boots warmers (enough for everyone) large comfortable benches and enough of space for your skis. The best I ever see so far. From it, I was going directly out of the hotel to reach a ski bus stop located directly outside the hotel. ||Cultural engagement: I was skiing so, I was not able to enjoy all the animations prepared by the hotel, like the local cultural excursions, offered by he owners, but I was more than touched when I got the chance to listen to the Mozart concert on my birthday performed by young promising musicians coming from the Conservatory of Voralberg. This kind of cultural patronage of the arts I admire from all my heart. ||I didn't mention the pool, the fireplace in the lobby area, the afternoon tea offered by the hotel and probably a million other things that were lovely but to experience that all you need to come to Hotel Krone yourself. ||I was absolutely touched by the hospitality of the owners that were there every day interacting with the quests. Speaking perfectly German, English, French. They with their always smiling staff were creating a homely atmosphere. Like a visit to the friends' house, really. ||Whenever I think about my ideal skiing holidays there is Hotel Krone coming to my mind. Comfortable, warm, friendly, and with THE SPA!!!!||I cannot...
Read moreWe booked the hotel for a family vacation. We were 3 generations, ranging from age 15 to 85 years old, and all of us had a fantastic time.|First: A place falls and stands with its people. Everyone we encountered was professional, friendly and very engaging, including the owner. A special Thank you to Kataryna who served us breakfast and dinner and Norbert who is a brilliant bartender. ||Next: the amenities are unique. The hotel has a rooftop wellness area with 3 different sauna rooms and a eucalyptus steam bath. There were also plenty of places to rest after the sauna and have cup of tea. The entire area is on top of the hotel and provides stunning views of the mountain landscape which can be enjoyed even in the saunas. Another great feature is a natural pool, meaning no chlorine or salt needed. Two small basins adjacent basins filter the water naturally with plants. Swimming in drinking quality water was heaven. The hotel also has a wellness spa, and my husband had a massage that he enjoyed very much.||The food: the hotel provides breakfast, an afternoon snack, and dinner, all of which are good. There was a huge variety at the breakfast buffet, from smoked lox, cheeses, breads, eggs, meats, and more. It was simply delicious. The afternoon snack usually was a soup or cheeses with cold cuts or tortellini and always a multiple selection of pastries. There was also a five-course meal every night for dinner consisting of salad buffet, appetizer, main course, dessert and cheese (there was always a vegetarian option too). One of the reasons the chef likes this area is that so much of the food can be sourced locally. Every meal we had contained many, if not all, ingredients which were locally sourced.||The rooms: They were decent sized and ours had an amazing floor to ceiling windows with a spectacular view of the Kanisfluh mountain. This said, we didn’t spend a lot of time in our room. After hiking we would mostly take naps in the beautiful spa on the top floor.||The hotel offered programs each day with a nice variety. In the 4 days we stayed there we went to an organ concert and talk about the baroque masters of the valley, a jazz concert and a singing bowl meditation in the Spa. All for free and organized by the hotel.|One additional surprising aspect: We talked to five different hotel guests, and they were all repeat customers. |Here is our summary: If we ever come to this area again, we will definitely stay at the Krone in Au. The friendly people, the facilities, the food and activities were an absolute selling point for our family. Thank you for a fun and...
Read moreWonderful staff throughout hotel. Immaculately clean. Mainly German and French speaking staff and guests but most spoke at least a little English so not a problem. We had an English menu and daily activities leaflet but spa brochure was only available in French and German.
I don't understand why more English havent found this part of Austria. We never met another native English speaker the whole time we were there, which I find strange as the local architecture is quite something and the craftsmanshipwith wood iis evident everywhere.
Swimming pool is lovely stainless steel construction - so clean and often I had it to myself. Didnt use the swimming lake though my husband enjoyed sitting out beside it to read.
The sky spa is amazing. That and the swimming pool are worth visiting this hotel for alone. Again, not very busy mostly and plenty of loungers, towels, choice of herbal teas. Views up the valleys and of the mountains. Just perfect.
Food is exceptional. We stayed 12 nights and it was so varied we never got bored. Very talented chef. It is healthy, seasonal, local and very beautifully presented. 5 courses including soup and salad every evening with a choice of vegetarian, fish or meat main course. Huge choice at breakfast and if you could find room, a little something for afternoon tea between 3 and 5 each day.
We joined in some activities- organ recital at church next door and a mini concert by local musicians and there were organised walks and visits throughout the week that we could have joined in with.
Room was huge but plain and fairly basic. Plenty of wardrobe space. I think it was a family room - 2 sofa beds in addition to king size. Enjoyed sitting out on enclosed balcony to read and listen to the church bells chime every 15 mins (thoughout the day, not night).
Only downside about this hotel is that it is on a fairly main road (not by city standards but constant traffic noise throughout the day - motorbikes in particular). Not a problem with windows closed but would have been nlcer sitting on balcony or terrace without it. However everything else was just so good that we completely forgive that one minor irritation.
We were lucky with the weather for September and whatever the weather the surroundings are beautiful. We used buses to get about (and train from and back to Zurich). Hotel gifted Bregenzewald cards for use on buses and cable cars, which we used a lot.
I recommend this hotel if you appreciate good food and enjoy a good spa. Very good value if those 2 things high on your list...
