BergSPA & Hotel Zamangspitze — Hotel in Gemeinde Sankt Gallenkirch

Fifteen years ago I visited what was then named the ‘Zamangspitze Hotel’. So I know the beautiful location in Sankt-Gallenkirch, the Montafon valleys, the surrounding mountains, the fascinating walks. The ideal decor for a perfect holiday! Today hotel Zamangspitze is twice as big, a full grown Berg – Spa Hotel, with 60 comfortable and recently renewed rooms and a wellness-department. This four star hotel has everything a guest can wish for, even with bad weather. I was happy that the ‘Hauspost’ still arrived at the breakfast-table every morning, with news and suggestions for excursions and treatments. Unfortunately the lobby and the swimming-pool didn’t grow with the hotel and the extra rooms. This could be a problem if it rains all day. Zamangspitze is now run by the Metzler-family, with Andreas Metzler and his brother. In contrast with the earlier hotel-operator, the Metzler-brothers speak to their guests in a typical Austrian language which is difficult to understand and differs with normal German. They don’t seem to feel the need to explain anything in English at the welcome-evening. ||The most disappointing aspect of the hotel – a real shame – is the kitchen. The Zamangspitze-team feels they serve a high class sort of gastronomy. And often the menu looks like a painting on a plate! I am even convinced the chef of Zamangspitze has all the technique and quality as a chef. But for the mere purpose of the looks, he combines tastes and flavores which are absolutely not done. Whipped cream with salmon? Panna Cotta with a glass of yellow camille tea? Trout with Brazilian nuts? Come on! A kind of butter-schnitzel (looks like a common meat-ball) with bread? Who gives - in a four star hotel AND as main course – what looks like a Mc Donalds hamburger with salmon in between? Without anything else? Exactly. No menu is translated, so we got amongst other things: Schweinehals or Schweinebauch mit Spitzkraut… Doesn’t sound very tasty if you put it like that! So in a nutchell: I enjoyed the hotel, but the kitchen-chef needs some common sense. And I would have appreciated a genuine Wiener schnitzel once in a week, if I travel from...

We stayed here for 8 days in August with my family. Hotel setting is quite nice, with great views towards the front (south side). Initially I booked the standard Silvretta rooms, but these appear a bit old so I phoned them to get an upgrade to a bigger and newer De Luxe room; very worth the 16 euro per day extra charge! (Beds are good and bathroom is new)||Staff is very helpful and warm, they really work hard to assure you are looked after, nice to feel 'special'. Spa is good, but had little time to enjoy as our son of 4 liked to play in the indoor pool, which was nice and always tidy and clean.||What we really liked is the food; very large breakfast choices, always using local produce! Dinners were very pleasant; 5 course meals (nice portions to keep it going, high quality cuisine). Only point for improvement there; salad bar choices are the same each evening. All in all a great holiday in a hotel we would like...

Ein sehr angenehmes Haus, das nicht unbedingt durch das große Ganze besticht, sondern durch viele kleine angenehme, überraschende, herzliche, großzügige Gesten.

So gibt es beim Frühstücksbuffet immer wieder etwas Neues, wie eine Köchin, die frische Eierspeisen zubereitet oder eine Saftpresse zur Selbstbedienung. Das Abendmenu wechselt thematisch nahezu jeden Tag, mal wartet ein Montafoner Spezialitätenmenu, mal gibt es diverse Vorspeisen im Glas zur Wahl, mal ist ein Fondue geplant, mal diverse frisch gebackene Strudel. Die Küche ist übrigens ausgezeichnet – wir kennen viele 4-Sterne-Häuser, dieses ist gastronomisch das Beste, das wir bisher kennengelernt haben. Sehr gut fanden wir auch die Mengen innerhalb des Menus, denn oft sind die Teller überladen und hinterlassen ein unangenehmes Völlegefühl. Hier passt es perfekt und wer da meckert, muss wohl ein Schwerstarbeiter sein. Die überaus freundlichen Zimmermädchen lassen sich kleine Nettigkeiten einfallen, bestücken das Bad mit diversen Kosmetikprodukten, formen die Handtücher zu Schwänen, lassen frisches Sprudelwasser und Süßigkeiten für die Kinder da. Zum Valentinstag gab es Pralinen und eine Wunschkerze und für die Kinder ein Kosmetikset. Überhaupt sind Kinder gern gesehene Gäste. Zu bestimmten Zeiten dürfen sie mit in die Sauna, mehrmals die Woche ist Kinderkino und jeden Abend gibt es ein nettes, ausgewogenes Kinder- und Eisbuffet.

Weitere Annehmlichkeiten: ein schöner Wellnessbereich, ein großzügiger Spabereich mit Kosmetik- und Massageanwendungen, ein Fitnessraum, Transferservice zu und von den Bahnen, beheizter Skiraum, Nachmittagsjause, viele Aktivitäten von Aquafitness bis Schneeschuhwanderung.

Unser Zimmer war neu, schön eingerichtet und angenehm, vielleicht etwas klein für drei Personen. Einziger Makel: Es gibt zu wenig Haken für Handtücher, Bademäntel & Co.

Alles in allem sind wir sehr zufrieden und können das Hotel vorbehaltlos...
