Hotel - Restaurant Winterbach — Hotel in Gemeinde St. Anton an der Jeßnitz

We had a very unpleasent experience with the restaurant's personnel which demaged our positive impressions from the beautiful Ötscher Tropfsteinhöhle park. At the end of one -day-trip to that place we made a short stop to Winterbach where we got by train to see the view over the valley and we planned to take the nearest return train to continue our hiking in Wienerbruck. Suprisingly the return train was in an hour so we went to the Winterbach hotel restaurant where we were informed that payments are available in cash only :( Hungry, trirsty, tired after hiking, we just sat down on the restaurant's tarrace to wait for our train. Unfortunately the lady hosting guest (which were just a faw and 90% of the tables were free) was caming over to us to show her dissapointment and irritation that we sit there without buying anything. We didn't have any cash and it was a problem for us more than for her because we needed a proper rest! She kept commenting that "it's a restaurant not a waiting room!" and finaly after a few minutes of our sitting there and admiring the view over the valley she asked us to leave the restaurant, its terrace and wait somewhere else (in Winterbach this place was the only one open). Winterbach is a request stop on the start of the mountain section of the Mariazell (not all trains go as far as Winterbach and some trains are "request" so tell the guard to get off!!! It has great views of the valley below. "Winterbach" is basically the hotel , thats it apart from the station. Great for the station and for walking . It was -7/-9 when we arrived and this is a big place so was not 70 degrees on the inside but that is understandable . It is really a big pension (B&B) rather than a hotel and offers really good prices for B&B. It was 100Euro for 3 people with a continental breakfast.||If you drive and are looking for the car park , driver 400metres after you see the hotel further up the single track B road and its on your right.||||Stunning views met us in the morning after heavy snow . if visiting Mariazellbahn its a great stop as you are 100m from the station but remember a lot of trains turn round at L/bachmulle below in the valley.||||Quite , clean , children room with model railways !||||Glad...

There are two special things about this place: the small train serving breakfast in the restaurant and the cake. Both are little details that made the holiday here a very special one. ||The hotel is very nice and unique in this area. The retro look is very nice and pleasant. The room was very spacious and the view was great. The room had a double, very comfortable bead as well as a spare bed in a space like another room. ||The dinner was very good with soup, main course and desert – delicious.
