This hotel is nice aesthetically, but can do a handful of minor changes that would have a big impact to make it as advertised, especially for the price.
The saunas/pools, were awful. There were no basic rules, guidelines, or monitoring so the pool was filled with drooling, diaperless babies. Was hard to relax when you could visually see babies spitting up and urinating in the water around you. Then for the saunas, again no rules like to be quiet or no children under a certain age. it was like a children's centre. For example, the tubs where you dip your feet for hot/cold, there were 3 children using them as their private baths. I am not so anti-child that I would go to an adult-only, in fact I frequent hotels of this price range and type often, fine with kids. Parents deserve holidays too. The issue is that the hotel has no guidelines. It seems without rules, parents threw basic respect and hygiene out the window.
The rooms are very very dusty. I found a chunk of dog hair on the carpet on my first day. I don't have a dog. The room numbers are ordered where 2 floros have 100-199, and the 3rd floor has 200+. So twice I had other guests try to enter my room because they were on the wrong floor. And since the DND sign is flimsy and kept falling off the the door, housecleaning tried to enter our room while we were at 730 breakfast... then we couldn't get them to leave. It was.. awkward.
My friends and I ordered the same price/room. They received a much bigger room with an actual kitchenette. The balcony room has no kitchenette, despite what the website says. My personal advice is to ask for the covered balcony and enjoy the bigger room with more amenities for the same price. Ultimately we just felt ripped off.
Regarding massages, the hotel checkin email instructions advises to book your massage at the reception upon arrival. There are no further instructions or spots on the website where we could book ahead. So it was frustrating when we arrived for checkin and discovered only 2 spots left for our 4 day weekend. Please understand our disappointment when the saunas, pool, and massages didn't work out for our trip. That was a major reason we booked.
The breakfasts and dinners were really good. The staff mostly pleasant. Area is beautiful. If the hotel would make minor changes (*basic * aqua guidelines, vacuum, transparent room types, update numbers to match floors, quality DND signs, online booking system) it could live up to what...
Read moreTop contributor review: After a long research of the hotels with a lake view around Hallstatt I have picked up Mondi resort . Pros : incredible view spreading out from the restaurant and also rooms facing the lake ! Breakfast is highly recommended and I would count it 8/10 And that is the end of all advantages… the rest are only cons Cons : Front desk service is completely inexperienced in all meanings of this word !!! So far during our long travel history I have never experienced such a bad service!!! It has started from the reservation inquiry’s while they were simply cheating on the price . Finally I have booked by booking.com us they are valued brand . Upon arrival you will not met anyone such as lobby boy or baggage service!! There is also no baggage trolley that are being used in the hotels - they have only supermarket trolley what was really funny. Our room number was 131 and it supposed to be on the first floor as also it was told by the receptionist at the front desk- so imagine my family going with two kids and all luggage carrying on by hand trying to find the room on the first floor/ while we noticed that there is no room 131 on the first floor we have started to look for it at the second floor… for our surprise there was also no one 131 room … so after 10 minutes of research and visit at the reception someone else informed us that there is a third floor accessible by stairs without lift… At the last day of our stay our family has arrived at the hotel - they requested lake view apartment and paid for one like that ! They were also confirmed by the front desk that the view will be at the lake … what a surprise was while we have entered they apartment and look through the window at the car parking … Another horrible disappointment was due to their spa&welness quality which is truly ugly… At the swimming pool and dressing room there is such a lot of dirt and stinky smell … that kind of quality was 30 years in the past while swimming pools were something extraordinary but in today’s world it was a total failure All in all if they would make a spa renovation and management qualification it can be a very good or even...
Read moreWe've spent 10 days at this Holiday with my wife, infant daughter and grand-parents. We rented a suit. The impression are somewhat mixed but overall positive. The place itself it beautiful and the hotel is probably best positioned to capture the surrounding beauty. I personally enjoyed running round the lake which makes it ~14.7km track.
Positives: Breathtaking views from both balconies (lake side and half-lake side), as well as generalyl from the restaurant and the sunbathing area by the pool The hotel's offering relatively high quality bike, including electric assisted bikes which are extremely helpful for unprepared folks to ride around since the terrain can be fairly steep Spacious suit
Neutrals The quality of food is somewhere in between. It's generally fine but not extraordinary and selection is no too wide (both boufet and a la carte)
The pool is also on the neutral side. It is there, which is obviously good and it's ~12-13 meters long which is enough to have some sort of swimming exercise. Yet it's very shallow (1.4m) and modest to say the least in terms of equipment and service (e.g. you have to bring your own tower from the room)
Neutrals / Negatives Not all the personal speaks english, which is specifically disturbing in the restaurant Some peaces of furniture and equipment are aging and require renovation: the carpet in the corridor has seen better times, 2 doors our kitchen furtniture was broken, etc The kitchen is closed from morning up untill 6pm, so in case you want to have lunch or early dinner you have to walk / (drive?) to the nearby village which is ~1km away Service to the extent we experienced it was also on the poor side. We didn't have the room cleaning included, but when we ordered one it took us more than a day before the lady actually arrived. And when leaving she failed to take the garbage with her. Baby's cloth was returned from the Laundry with clear remaining signs of why it was actually submitted there.
Overall I would reiterate that we enjoyed our stay a lot, but this is not the place I would think about if looking for some...
