Although a bit on the expensive side, this place is the ideal family vacation location. Just perfect from all perspectives. Its setting is the most wonderful place I have almost ever seen (and have been around to all continents a few times) with almost unreal green alpine meadows, the views of the wild rocky peaks that seem so unbelievably close you can almost touch them; the pine forests, farms and the cute alpine village - all combined in one panorama. Then, there are so many activities for the kids they never even want to leave the house - for all ages: the gocarts, tabletennis, trampoline, pool, playground, playroom, etc. Also for the bigger "kids" - the wellness area is so "appetising", but we were enticed with so many other activities that we did not even get into it. It is because they are members in the so-called "phyrn-card", and with this so many great organised and other activities are offered for free, you always have another interesting thing to try. The cablecars to the high mountains, the kids programs such as fishing (and you can keep what you caught for free!), the golf training, evening hiking with laterns, etc; the indoor and outdoor pools and lakeside beaches - all for free, and in really beautiful places: you just can't stop planning your next adventure. There are also nice cultural programs, tours, museums, etc.||||The food is also very nice, dinner main course has relatively small portions but you can get unlimited "nachschlass"s, there is a great salad buffet; choice of two tasty soups (as much as you want, wich is great since we are big soup people), with very yummy desserts. The food is not heavy, very tasteful but still light. we loved the breakfast buffet, too.||||The farm really offers anything you just dream of for babies (and small kids): they easily added two cribs for our twin babies; changing mat, bathtub, high chairs, pretty little cutlery and plate sets for children - all so detailfully designed for their pampering. The all-day juice bar was especially loved by our little ones, of course. It is also really nice that it is SO safe: we could let even our 18-month-olds "roam around" a bit alone in the garden while we needed to rush up to the room for something; there is no through traffic around, only the beautiful meadows... And when the kids go to bed, it is really the quietest place you can imagine. ||||The hosts are not the most courteous types, we were quite taken back by their harsh communication with us before even we left home (about wanting to rent another room for a friend family, and when that did not work, at least buy the half pension for them there); but when in the spot we really did not have any problems, they are there for you whenever you need something, and solve all your needs, otherwise do not interfere when they are not needed. So I suppose they are just very busy (taking care of the farm and the large pension in the family), so they need to be down to...
Read moreThis was the second time I spent my winter holiday at Berghof Sturmgut and already make plans to go there again next year or even this summer. It is my policy not to go to the same place twice, because if it was a nice one I don't want to be dissapointed and ruin my memories (it can happen when you go somewhere having high expectations) and of course there are so many places around the world to visit. Also, until Sturmgut, all the places I visited alone or with my family (and there are quite a few) had something I disliked enough not to ever want to go back (either the room, atmosphere, food, friendliness of hosts/staff, access to tourist sites etc.). So, I warmly recommend Sturmgut to all those wanting to spend an active holiday in a cosy, convenient place. There is everything there and most importantly the ski area is right around the corner, you don't have to put your equipment in the car every morning and gather your family at the same hour so you can travel distances to the slopes. Instead, you go down to the basement in your slippers, take your boots off the heated rack and your skis, go out the door and in a few meters you are right on the slope. Hinterstoder ski area is not huge (this is an advantage when you have kids as you reduce the risk of getting them lost), but there are enough options for all types of skiers and snowboarders. Snow is pretty much guaranteed from the end of December. It is well maintained, safe and not crowded. Sturmgut hotel is situated up on the hill in a very quiet spot with beautiful surrounding landscape: typical postcard mountain scenery. The rooms are very clean and practical (big closet and many other drawers and shelves). There is also a large variety of room types for all requirements. Food is plenty and tasty, and the hosts are very kind and pleasant. Prices are reasonable, lower than in other Austrain ski areas which might be popular, but tend to be overcrowded and commercial. In conclusion, I don't see what else you need for a perfect ski holiday with or...
Read moreLovely family owned gesthouse in beautiful mountain setting. The view over the valley and mountains is breath-taking. The owner is sooo nice, we felt very welcomed all the time. Everybody was very nice, including slovak speaking cleaners :-) We loved the friendly atmosphere. We booked with halfboard, which includes rich buffet breakfast and 3-course set menu for dinner. The owner always asked us if we have enough food, and brought us more whenever we asked. Food is simply delicious! Breakfast is served between 8-10 AM, and dinner at 18:30. The resident ginger cat is soo sweet, she/he used to sleep on a chair during the meal times and we loved to pet her/him. They also have here cows, lamas, 2 dogs and even 2 pigs :-) The home-made eggs from local hens, and home-baked cakes for breakfast are just perfect.
Perfect location for trekking, lakes, and for all nature lovers.
We loved everything, will gladly return back. Highly recommended
THANK YOU...
