We came across this hotel while searching for somewhere with access to a skiing area which offered snow sure conditions and it certainly did with the Kaunertal Glacier(3100 mts) area a half hour free bus ride away. The bus ride is worth it alone for the stunning scenery on the way. For anyone seeking extended skiing, the Serfaus Fiss Ladis ski arena is only a 25 minute or so drive away , and is incorportaed in some of the lift passes on offer as are other ski areas.||||The hotel itself provided lovely accomodation ,from the rooms, to the relaxing areas , which offered everything from traditional cosy Austrian , to a modern lounge, even an extensive kids play room.||||The breakfast buffet offered excellent and plentyful variety with both hot and cold choices available. At breakfast the choices for the 5 course evening menu are presented which were always excellent and varied and accompanied by a fantastic salad buffet.||The New Year's eve menu was outstanding , in particular the hors d'oeuvre selection lingers in the memory.||||As a hotel guest , free access to the Kaunertaal leisure centre is provided. Very welcome after a day on the slopes.||||As is often the case for prompting a review it is the people that make the big difference , and it was the very natural, friendly, but also efficient way the hotel is run...
Read moreThe hotel is near an excellent ski area, which means that its guests are probably more forgiving than they would otherwise be... The just-renovated room was very nice, with a great view and nice balcony. However, there was no hook to hang a towel in the bathroom and the heated rack was very inconveniently placed just above the toilet. The sauna itself was nice, but the relaxing area was not very welcoming. The food was good but by no means memorable. The bread at breakfast was not always fresh and the salad bar was the same every night (incidentally, the dishes on offer were exactly the same as those available at the salad bar at the restaurant on the slopes). Also, I do like a cold apres-ski beer... but the "lounge" was rather dark and somewhat depressing, so I ended up getting a beer at the supermarket and having it on my very nice balcony...! Finally, it was a bit annoying that the wifi connection kept...
Read moreI've stayed in the Kaunertal twice now, in both summer and winter and strongly recommend a stay at this lovely, friendly hotel. The valley is stunning, whether you want to enjoy great skiing on quiet slopes on the glacier, wonderful hiking in summer, or just soak up the scenery. The hotel is at the centre of the small village, the rooms are comfortable, spotless and well appointed and both times I've had spectacular views. The dining area has an informal feel. Breakfast is plentiful with lots of choice and dinners were excellent. There's a comfortable bar and lounge area too. The Larcher family could not have been more hospitable, creating a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. They really know their valley and helped us to explore and...
