Gasthof Römischer Keller Kuchl — Hotel in Kuchl

We first stayed in this hotel twenty years ago, when it was a bustling place full of visitors. ||We have been back twice since then and sadly it has lost that edge. ||The hotel itself has all that one wants, the rooms are warm and spacious, with good bathrooms (small but with all one needs). The bedrooms are immaculately clean and well furnished. Breakfast is included and although it tends to be the same every day, it is filling.||||There is a small dining room for dinners which are well cooked and with typical Austrian dishes. Lunches are available on the days that the hotel is open.||||The real downside, for us anyway, was that the main entry is used for a gathering place where the proprietor often sits with his friends, smoking and enjoying beers. As you walk in to the fug of smoke you do feel as though you are almost intruding on their place. The smell of smoke does permeate the whole hotel. Sadly there seemed to be little interest in guests. The location is an old and traditional gasthof , might be a few hundreds years old , in the center of the small village of kuchl, about 30km from the more famous Salzburg city and about 4 km from Golling.|Any kind of restaurant valuation, as I always do, I guess should be based on qualitative, quantitative and service level related to the surrounding !|From qualitative point of view i have to admit this gasthof positively surprised me for the excellent zwiebelrostbraten ! One of the best I never experienced in the last 21 years in Austria!|From quantitative point of view was definitely satisfying without offering oversized portions!|Service was more than punctual and very very friendly !|Obviously if you expect a premium level restaurant with highly minimalist design and traditional food reinterpretation in a new creative way .... this is not the right location ! В целом отель не ужасный, у нас был достаточно просторный номер, чисто, удобный столик, письменный стол, стулья, все неплохо. Но есть серьезные нюансы. Отель вплотную прилегает к церкви, а это значит, кому-то могут достаться номера с видом на кладбище. Не самый желанный вид на отдыхе. А кроме того, колокола церкви постоянно тихо звякают всю ночь напролет и в 6 утра уже полноценно звонят. Так что о спокойном сне можно забыть. В номерах нет не то что кондиционеров, но и вентиляторов, поэтому летом необходимо открывать окна, что разумеется только усиливает шум, и от церкви и от машин с улицы. Кому-то наверное повезет и достанется номер с окнами на задний двор, где не так слышны колокола, ну а остальным? Пригодятся беруши. Завтрак очень примитивный, без горячего, выбор йогурта, нарезок минимальный. Персонал присутствовал только при заселении/отъезде группы. Видела как туристы безуспешно искали сотрудников в другое время - никого, особенно вечером. Лифт есть, но сомнительный. То и дело грозил сломаться или застрять. Вай-фай работает не везде. В боковых номерах будут с этим проблемы. Коротко говоря - отель "как повезет". Из плюсов - чудесный городок Кухль, очень милый. Вид на горы, недалеко озеро, где можно даже купаться и разумеется гулять, любоваться горами. Рядом ж/д станция, доехать до...
