Burgenländerhof — Hotel in Mörbisch am See

We stayed here for two nights at the end of our 18 night holiday in Austria. Unlike our previous hotels it offers little more than the bed and breakfast (the others were Spa Hotels) but it was significantly cheaper and the room quality and service levels were well up to standard. The room was clean, the breakfast basic but adequate, and the view of a storks nest from the balcony was just what my wife wanted (Room 101). I had read, in other reviews, that there was no air-con at this hotel but certainly in room 101 there is a very efficient air-con which was needed in June. The staff were polite and friendly, a little German helps but their English was fair to good. In the evening the restaurant serves a range of dishes, after a couple of weeks of fancy food elsewhere I had fried chicken and chips which was excellent both for quality and even with the weak pound, value for money. We have stayed in 4 or 5 other hotels in either Morbisch or Rust over the last 10 years, and although others offered more, such as swimming pools and evening meal rates, the additional facilities/ food were poor and not worth the extra cost. This is a good, honest B&B hotel in a delightful Austrian village which has many eating and drinking places and much in the way of outdoor pursuits when the weather allows. Any down sides, well the only thing I've knocked a star off for is the lack of a lift, at 61 I'm becoming more aware of this but there are only two floors and this failing would not affect most people. Das Haus ist ein Bau aus den 70er-Jahren und entsprechend eingerichtet. Das Zimmer ist auch so eingerichtet, aber alles ist sauber und in Ordnung. Die Betten sind ganz ok, lediglich Einzelmatratzen sind im Doppelbett nicht unbedingt angenehm. Eine Klimaanlage wurde auch nachgerüstet und versieht gute Dienste wenn es warm ist (bei uns 33°C). Gut hat mir die Terasse gefallen, zwar auch so alt wie das Gebäude, aber mit WPC-Dielen verhübscht, aber die Lage in der Morgensonne hat das Frühstück schon zu einem Erlebnis gemacht. Umfangreiches Frühstücksbuffet wo jeder etwas passendes findet sowie Eiervariationen aus der Küche werden auf Anfrage serviert. Leider ist kein Gastronomiebetrieb mehr vorhanden, das bedeutet ausser Frühstück gibt es keinen Küchenbetrieb und Ausschank ist auf Selbstbedienung umgestellt worden. Das Personal ist...
