We stayed at Gasthof Hirschen in August 2016 when we had tickets for the Opera at Breganz. Bezau is 30 kms away from Breganz but we decided we would rather stay in the country than in the middle of a town, specially as we knew the weather was going to be amazing.|It was really convenient, in the end, as there was a bus to the Festival and then one to drive us back at midnight, literally to the gate of our guesthouse. The ride is free for anyone holding a ticket to the opera.|The Hirschen looks pretty from the outside. As most gusthouses like it, it is full of flowers and there is a small garden with tables and chairs in the frount.|It is situated right in the center of the quiet vllage of Bezau, next to the church. Opposite there is the bus stop for the bus to Bregenz. Bezau is a good starting point for excursions to Bregenzerwald and the kleine Walsertal..|The rooms were good, the bathroom new and clean, but, the management should pay attention to the replacement of the mattresses for improved customer sleeping comfort which is necessary in view of tired hikers in this area, needing a comfortable rest.|Breakfast was very good but we were not so happy with the dinner.|Management should also look into...
Read moreAlthough we didn't have a reservation, we had researched this hotel and had a tentative plan to stay here for the first night of our month long holiday in Europe. After an overnight flight with little sleep, Bezau was a bit over two hours by car from the Zurich airport. It was easy to park. It was easy to obtain a spacious room with a bright, spotless bathroom and a balcony. And after the briefest of naps, we strolled through town, used the Bancomat, and settled down to an al fresco dinner at the hotel. The schnitzels were tasty and fun, but for some reason we both thought the fries were outstanding and gobbled them up. With a large beer and white wine, the tab was very reasonable.||||We were extremely satisfied with the Hirschen in all aspects. And the ease of our first day's experience left us...
Read moreGood location in centre of village, next to Church, thankfully the church bells are silent during the night. Don't serve dinner on Wednesday but not a problem as plenty of other places to eat in village.||Friendly helpful owner only downside is that they don't speak any English but make up for this with their willingness to please and be helpful.||Good plentiful breakfast - plent of fresh fruit and yogurt, lots of cheese ham & salami and bread.||Evening dinner was good but again the lack of English caused one slight error in that I received something I wasn't expecting and didn't like but was quickly replaced.||Room comfortable clean and functional with lots of storage space.||Was in Village to do some Mountain Biking and this was a great base to...
