Hotel Barbarahof Saalbach — Hotel in Saalbach-Hinterglemm

This is the second visit to this hotel and the experience this time was poor. The rooms are great. We stayed in a junior suite which was very good and reasonable value. There was some noise from the stairwell but that was relatively minor and confined to mornings and early evenings and did not disturb us. Overall, the hotel has an air of pretentiousness that seems to preclude any sort of real Austrian hospitality. The experience in the restaurant is very formal. Almost all of the service personnel are foreigners and don't seem interested in conversing or engaging with guests on a human level. All like robots. Neither did the other guests, who mostly seemed content to keep to themselves. All that might be OK but the food was very disappointing. The hotel seems to be aiming for some higher level cuisine but misses the mark badly. All we wanted was some good home style cooked meals but got stuff that mostly tasted awful. The highlight is the salad buffet. Even though we paid a fair bit for the room, we were charged for tap water. Another sign of the pretentiousness. At the price, I wouldn't recommend the hotel....

Do you know the feeling of visiting good friends after several years and immediately feeling "at home"? Just go to the fridge, grab a beer and chill together by the fireplace? That's cool! At Christmas 2024 I was back at the Barbarahof after about 15 years. It was as described above. It was the first visit for my son (14). We travel quite a lot and know hotels, holiday apartments and motorhome parking spaces. The hotel Barbarahof is the best address so far. The rooms are noticeably clean. The size varies depending on the category, even the smaller ones are sufficient. But the larger ones are cooler. The service is first class. For skiing, great service with the "train" to the ski slope, back to the slope right to the door (depending on the snow conditions). The crowning glory is the food. Even my son (critical athlete with very specific requirements) would immediately move into the Barbarahof as his permanent home. ... Also worth a trip in summer. We decide to spend our family holiday in Saalbach. I found hotel Barbarahof, they have pleasant apartmant perfect fit for our family. From the first momet when we came, till the end of our stay, the staff was absolutely proffesional, and very pleasant. Hotel was very clean, and provide us everything we need. I bring also my bike, they have garage for bikes with full equipment you need like air compressor, especially i like a place to wash your bike behind the hotel, tools to small repair, etc. They have really nice place behind the hotel chill out zone, pretty playground for children and also for adults. The food was also very good. We liked that staff in restaurant was "international", and we met waiter from our home country. We absolutelly recomend this hotel also for families and also for couple.
