Hotel Florianerhof — Hotel in Sankt Florian

We've recently spent a night here during a business trip through Austria. |This wasn't the original plan. We were supposed to stay the night in Linz, unfortunately something with our booking went wrong and we found ourselves without a hotel. Since this seemed to have been a very popular night for Linz, the only hotel we could find that still had 2 rooms left at 10pm was the Florianerhof. In hindsight we would have probably been better off sharing one room elsewhere. ||No idea were the supposed 4 stars come from or how long ago this rating was accredited. Yes the hotel might have been a good standard once, but this certainly ancient history. No internet in the rooms, no amenities to speak off. |The breakfast buffet was a joke. A tiny platter of cold meat and cheese (all on one plate, good thing I am not a vegetarian) with a few jams and cereals and one jug of orange juice, to be shared between all guests. Didn't seem as if they were replacing anything that ran empty, so it was strictly first come first serve. |Staff was grumpy and totally not interested in anything the guests had to say. |During check out the guy in front of me suggested they might offer an ash tray in front of the hotel, since|you've got to go outside for a smoke and don't want to throw your butts onto the street. But the only response was that it isn't their problem what you do outside.... Never book this place! It's awful, unfriendly staff, the room and the furnitures are from the 70's, even the towels! There was no heating in the bathroom, the water didn't go down in the sinker, the beds were crap. Room was dirty. It took 3 hours to have 20 degrees in the room, very old radiators as well. In the elevator smelled a mix of cigarette smoke and kitchen smell. The wifi in the hotel is not working, my phone in the room connected to the free wifi on the square on the opposite side of the street. Ridiculous.||And they lied about the price as it was personally booked by a relative and they confirmed a price of 150 eur for 2 nights, but when we paid, they asked 150 eur for 1 nights for this crap room which is not worth a penny! And they didn't tell us that breakfast is included in the price, they were in silence! Also, they lied that the hotel is full, no other room, but there was no one in the hotel, restaurant was also empty. This place is a disgrace for the city of St. Florian!||If you want to avoid a nightmare "hotel", then never go...

I very rarely make a review but on this occasion I really must. My wife and I had the misfortune to stay here with our two young kids in July 2012 for a weekend. The hotel smelled of rancid deep frying oil, the room resembled a dusty 1960's basic hostel, the toilet was filthy with a stained toilet and brown toilet brush that used to be white. The breakfast consisted of canned fruit, tasteless cheese and very unfriendly wait staff.||The manger ignored our complaints and to add insult to injury, insisted we pay extra for kids upon check out (even though they were on the original booking). They treated us with complete disrespect. Had we not been eager to leave teh place ASAP, I would have caleld teh police. We paid 4* prices for what was essentially a filthy, old fashioned dump not worthy of 1*. The owner and his son have no clue what customer service means.
