I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the winter wonderland at Pitztaler Gletscher, nestled in the picturesque Pitztal valley. This ski resort exceeded my expectations in every aspect, making it a memorable and exhilarating getaway. One of the standout features of Pitztaler Gletscher was the impeccable slope preparation. Each day, the slopes were meticulously groomed, providing a smooth and enjoyable skiing experience. The attention to detail in maintaining the conditions of the slopes truly enhanced the overall skiing atmosphere. For those seeking a balanced mix of challenge and fun, Pitztaler Gletscher offers predominantly intermediate slopes. This makes it an ideal destination for both seasoned skiers looking to test their skills and beginners eager to progress to the next level. The variety of slopes caters to a wide range of abilities, ensuring that everyone in your group can find the perfect run to suit their preferences. One of the highlights for me was the freeride capabilities of Pitztaler Gletscher. The resort provides ample opportunities for adventurous skiers to explore off-piste areas and embrace the thrill of untouched powder. The freeride options added an extra layer of excitement to my skiing adventure, and I had a blast charging through the pristine snow. The stunning alpine scenery surrounding Pitztaler Gletscher is simply breathtaking. The panoramic views of the snow-covered peaks and the charming Pitztal valley create a picturesque backdrop for an unforgettable winter retreat. The resort's location adds to the overall appeal, providing a serene and tranquil atmosphere that enhances the joy of skiing. In conclusion, Pitztaler Gletscher offers a perfect blend of well-prepared slopes, intermediate challenges, and thrilling freeride opportunities in a stunning alpine setting. Whether you're a seasoned skier or a novice, this resort has something to offer for everyone. My time at Pitztaler Gletscher was nothing short of spectacular, and I can confidently recommend it to fellow winter enthusiasts seeking an unforgettable ski vacation.

We visited Pitztal Glacier aka Pitztaler Gletscher with wood core - Black Forest Skis - Ski brand, for the the Ski and Show event on the slopes. The event allowed Ski enthusiasts keen on buying a pair of skis to test them free of charge on the slopes in October! The lifts are great and easy to use, all well looked after, with multiple restaurants and bars throughout the resorts with decent food and great drinks. The restaurant at the very top has the view of the entire untouched Glacier. Most importantly the snow is pretty good for October and worth a trip for a full days skiing. We stayed at Verwohnhotel Mandarfner Hof hotel which was 3 mins drive from the main Gletscher Express but during the peak season with Good snow also has a ski lift right next to the hotel. The hotel was superb, in the centre of the town with plenty of Apres Ski and shows, but surrounded with views of the mountains and gardens, great spa (which needs a review in itself), amazing modern rooms and the best part is the restaurant is truly the best and does not require for you to ever leave the hotel for dining.

What's good: + magnificent view + snow quality Not impressed by: - lifts: the train up to the glacier is inefficient (batch processing, might take you half an hour), the best slopes can be reached by T lift or gondola only, means you'll get to spend more time on the lifts than on the slopes compared to other ski resorts. - mountain cabins/culinary experience: caters to mass tourism, lacking the typical charm of Austrian mountain hospitality. Overpriced (even compared to other ski resorts), bad quality of food. Only 2 restaurants in the whole skiing area. - pricing: opaque. It's cheaper to buy online tickets in advance, but they don't tell you that at any point - even when I asked the cashier directly. - opening hours: as advertised, but only theoretically. They advertise lift operations till 4 pm, in reality the most important lifts stop earlier. Happy I've been there, but no desire to return. There are much better skiing areas around.
