Hotel AVIVA make friends — Hotel in Sankt Stefan-Afiesl

First impressions, a very large glass building set up on a hill with views to rolling valley below. Seems very quite and peaceful with a large parking lot out side.||||Plan to drive for an hour or so on small twisty roads once getting of the main roads. It is remotely located up in the rolling hills near to the Chek border. ||||Construction is in progress on separate ALM building site but does not disturb the rest of the hotel.||||Entrance is very welcoming with a friendly staff at check in desk and a modern decor. ||||Rooms are allotted in advance but if you have special wishes, call early and they do their best to accommodate for them. Was very pleased to see they try their best to give you what you want.||||INTERNET: terrible connection all over. Cell service also very weak. Best in bar area but with a hotel this size; I would have expected a better access, esp. with iPhone (no connection at all in room) and having to always sit at the bar to send private emails is not acceptable.||||ROOM: Perfect for one. Sharing would be tight but cozy with a friend. All rooms are modern with a beautiful valley view but disco noise will disturb middle rooms up to third floor and if you are very unlucky, a screams and moans from a neighboring room going at it. Bathrooms supplied with lotion only. No shampoo, conditioner. Bring your own. Hair dryers are powerful.||||FOOD: prepare to eat and eat. Food is lovely and tons of it. Shame dinner is served so late.||||MEET NEW FRIEND EFFECT: well, it’s a single hotel and you can guess, this is a meat market! 50% of the guests were regulars and most knew each other. (Could be due to the weekend booked). Most of the men are there for 2 things, drinking and getting lucky for a weekend. For this matter, some of the women are too. Average age is between 40-60. The others just want to meet people. Everyone was very friendly (including the owner who joins the guests before dinner every night among participation in other events…) and you would never be alone, unless you took a walk into the woods on purpose.||||VERY NEGATIVES: The hotel likes to promote healthy living and offer fitness programs such as walking, (beautiful area), biking, yoga (excellent trainer), salsa dance lessons (also very good and easy to learn) yet…. The guests smoke everywhere!!! It is disgusting! Outside around the sauna, walking everywhere around the Jacuzzi and pool area and in the disco/bar all day and night. If you are a non-smoker the option to go dancing at night or just enjoy the healthy part of this hotel is ruined and a total waste of money and time. ||||If you are interested in wellness, relaxation and fitness, avoid this hotel at all costs.||||If you are into drinking, chasing the opposite sex and lots of naked people on display all day long, then this might be the...

Essen: Prinzipiell sehr gut und die Qualität der Speisen ist sehr hochwertig, jedoch sind die Portionen beim Abendessen sehr "figurschonend" bemessen. Diese Miniportionen macht auch die Anzahl der Gänge nicht wett. 5 mal sehr wenig am Teller, ist unterm Strich halt immer noch wenig. Salatbuffet gut, für die Anzahl der Gäste jedoch zu klein.

Der Snack am Nachmittag war jeden Tag völlig überlaufen, hatten wohl nicht nur wir Hunger... Auswahl wiederum gut, jedoch zu wenig vom allem da und das Buffet ist für den Andrang einfach viel zu klein (im Lobbybereich). Langes Anstellen muss in Kauf genommen werden. Sehr störend empfanden wir, dass sich hier Tagesgäste (schick gekleidete Seminarteilnehmer) mit uns Wellness-Bademantelträger "vermischten", dadurch sind es noch mehr Leute und man kommt sich einfach blöd vor zwischen Anzügen und Krawatten in seinem Bademantel.

Das Frühstücksbuffet ist als einziges wirklich groß und reichhaltig - somit hier gleich mal satt essen.

Personal: reine Glückssache! Wir sind als Gruppe gereist und unsere Lieblingskellnerin war super nett und sehr zuvorkommend. Jedoch ist der Großteil des Servicepersonals leider sehr langsam und nicht wirklich aufmerksam.

Bar/Alkohol: im Wellnessbereich gibt es keine Bar an der man sich ein Gläschen Prosecco oder ähnliches gönnen könnte. Dazu muss man vom Wellnessbereich (Untergeschoss) zurück ins Erdgeschoss, durch die Lobby, zur "Tagesbar". Da kann man sich dann zu überteuerten Preisen, stilecht im Plastikbecher, etwas Alkoholisches kaufen. Lediglich von 16 - 17 Uhr gibt es Cocktails im Wellnessbereich (Happyhour), dazu eröffnet eine kleine Bar für eine Stunde. (total versäumte Umsatzmöglichkeit!) Der Alkohol der für Mischgetränke verwendet wird ist von günstigen Marken. (Achtung Kopfweh...)

Gäste: während unserem Aufenthalt eher älter (im Schnitt 45/50+ Jahre), großteils männlich und spitz wie Nachbars Lumpi... Die voraussichtliche Männlich/Weiblich-Verteilung im Hotel ist bei der Buchung logischerweise noch nicht vorherzusagen und somit wieder - Glückssache. Prinzipiell sei jedoch gesagt: Am Wochenende sind viele weibliche "Polter-Gruppen" unterwegs, die in ihren Gruppen bleiben möchten und somit die Stimmung eher drücken. Unter der Woche sind angeblich mehr "echte Singles" unterwegs, die Stimmung ist da besser und das Klientel gemischter. Für Partyspaß sorgt man aber bekanntlich immer selbst - da jedoch vorwiegend alte und/oder langweilige Leute da waren, war der Aufenthalt für mich eher fad. (ich, w., 23J.)

Wellness: Guter Standard, aber nichts besonderes. Nur ein Whirlpool (Platz für max. 6 bis 8 Personen) für das ganze Hotel vorhanden! Ist daher ständig von Gästen belegt, wer da auch mal rein will muss schnell sein oder hat Pech gehabt. Auflagen der Liegen im Wellnessbereich fleckig - NoGo!

Nightlife: Es gibt einen Alm-Bereich und einen Disko-Bereich. Beides war immer nur halb voll und daher kam nirgends echte Partystimmung auf. Da das Aviva sehr ländlich liegt kann man auch nirgends auswärts fortgehen.

Zimmer: sehr schön ausgestattet und gut gepflegt. Statt einer gemauerten Wand trennt eine große Glasscheibe Zimmer und WC/Bad von einander, in einem Einzelzimmer prinzipiell nicht störend. Jedoch könnte man vom Balkon aus, wenn man sich ganz an den Rand hinstellt, durch das viele Glas und die vielen Spiegel, trotz vorgezogenem Vorhang im Bad (dieser deckt nämlich nur die halbe Glasscheibe ab) einen Blick auf den Zimmernachbarn im Bad/WC erhaschen. Unangenehm - deshalb habe ich konsequent wenn ich im Bad war die elektrischen Rollos am Balkon heruntergelassen. Etwas umständlich.

Realtalk - Wer fährt eigentlich ins Aviva? In Gruppen Reisende die Party und Wellness verbinden möchten, Damen im gehobenen Alter auf der Suche nach der großen Liebe (etwas traurig zum Ansehen) und - wer hätte es gedacht - viele Single-Männer auf der Suche nach unverbindlichem Sex.

Fazit: Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis stimmt für mich leider nicht. Mein Einzelzimmer kostete am Wochenende pro Nacht 148 Euro. Um das Geld findet man...

I have never felt as uncomfortable in any place across five continents as I have felt in this hotel.||After the third little group started discussing unprompted another modern "Endlösung" for all the undesirable foreigners in Germany and Austria and proffered that it would be perfectly advisable to remove procreation rights from them I simply had enough.||As a consequence I chose to cut my trip in half.||Upon check out, I asked for consideration to count my miscellaneous charges against the pre-paid remainder of the hotel stay. Mind you I am telling them that in return for $50 I am given them several hundred dollars; no questions asked just to leave.||||However, to heap insult to injury, then, management insisted, counter to all business and logic, that they do not get paid at all for any of my stay and I would need to pay misc. charges anyways. This, of course, is nonsensical and not what my travel agency shared with me, but my goal was solely to depart at this point.||||The landscape around the hotel is nice and this the only type of hotel in an otherwise underdeveloped rural area. If you can associate with a certain mindset and do not mind the company...
