Jagdschloss Resort Kühtai — Hotel in Silz

We have stayed many times in Kuhtai and skied passed this quirky “resort” but never actually stayed. We were travelling from Solden so decided to stay overnight to see what Kuhtai was like in March compared to our usual stay pre-Christmas stay in December. Checking into the hotel I was quite excited by how original, warm, cosy and welcoming it looked. Then the receptionist said we were staying in a building across the road at Kuhtaier Hof so initially I was a little disappointed as the hotel looked so lovely. However, we were not disappointed. The room was all newly renovated, beautiful bathroom, comfortable bed and it was a lovely touch having a kettle with tea and coffee in the room (not often the case in Austria!) It really is a ski in/ski out hotel and it has a lovely outdoor area to sit and enjoy and Aperol spritz.||||Breakfast in the hotel (where reception was) was lovely – so much choice and very fresh. We didn’t have dinner in the hotel, we ate out at the Dorfstadl about 15 minutes up the hill – a lovely restaurant/bar with fabulous staff and great food and a lovely atmosphere. We were disappointed the hotel bar wasn’t open as it looked so lovely on the website and the hotel restaurant did look very cosy and inviting, but the menu was more than we wanted to pay. The pizza restaurant was also closed sadly.||||Snow conditions were a little poor for March (which surprised me) and the village in the evening was extremely quiet. What a wonderful stay. Accomodation was very clean and very modern in the 3 Seen Haus, which is one of the buildings - there are at least 4 with accomodation, ranging from the main hotel to the a smaller older building, to the modern 3 Seen Haus, which is also wonderful. If you don't like walking across a road for breakfast, stay in the main building. both Seen Haus and the main building had saunas - which are really lovely and really fun after a hard days skiing. ||We ( 4 lads, all early 50s ) drank in the bar a few times - very nice, smarter than some of the surrounding options. We ate in the restaurant and because it was my birthday they gave me a small present and a cake - they were superbly friendly and really lovely, we felt very well looked after. ||I think the only negative is that its a small walk up to town up a hill, but its really no problem and the tradeoff is the proximity to the gondola and the chair lifts. ||The skiing was amazing, there is plenty and lots of safe off piste for us boarders, really fun to seek out the powder, of which we had a good amount. I echo other reviews - its all red, really, so don't go there is inexperienced. and if its icy, as it would be a fair amount, be ready to go fast. The sun only hits one side of the valley ( in January ), so there is a fair bit of white out but you just stay on the sunny side of the street if that bothers you. we had a mix of weather and skiied through it all. Its big enough but small enough to get home in one run anytime. ||I really could not recommend Kuhtai more for a weekend skiing ( also spend a day in Ochsengarden - you'll enjoy the other resort and its a short bus ride away ) and staying at Jagdschloss and being looked after by the front of house, bar, restaurant and general staff so well made it...

Die Bewertung bezieht sich auf einen Besuch in der Sommersaison im 3-Seen-Haus. Die Leistung in der Wintersaison kann nicht bewertet werden. Das Jagdschloss Kühtai bietet in den Sommermonaten eine Unterkunft in Appartments der beiden 3-Seen-Häuser auf der anderen Straßenseite an. Diese sind Baujahr 2018, sehr schön mit Holzfassade verkleidet, hochwertig ausgestattet, sehr sauber und trotz Straßenlage sehr ruhig. Hier sei insbesondere die Hoch&Herrlich-Suite hervorgehoben, ein Maisonette-Zimmer für bis zu 4 Personen, Veranda, großem Ess- und Küchenbereich und 180-Grad-Blick in die fantastische Bergwelt. Im 3-Seen-Haus steht den Gästen ein Saunabereich mit einer mittelheißen Sauna (ca. 60 Grad) zur Verfügung, die derzeit aber nur von einem Haushalt gleichzeitig genutzt werden darf (Corona). Für Aufgüsse steht ein Wasserbottich mit wechselndem Duft bereit. In einzelnen Zimmern gibt es einen Kamin, der bis 21:30 Uhr genutzt werden darf. Die Unterkunft selber hat uns daher sehr begeistert. Sie war auch ideal als Ausgangspunkt für ausgedehnte Bergwanderungen.

Als Kehrseite der positiven Erfahrungen sind jedoch der Service und die angebotene Gastronomie im Sommer zu nennen. Ersterer eher unpersönlich, zum Teil zwar bemüht, aber wenig herzlich. Als Gast fühlt man sich nicht willkommen, weder bei Ankunft noch bei Abreise.

Die in der Wintersaison angebotene Gastronomie im Haupthaus, dem Jagdschloss, ist im Sommer komplett geschlossen. Da wir nicht als Selbstversorger hier waren, wurde uns telefonisch mitgeteilt, dass im Sommer als Alternative im Castello sowohl Frühstück, Mittagessen als auch Abendessen angeboten werden. Diese aber nicht als Pension, sondern bis auf das Frühstück a la carte. Für uns an sich kein Problem, allerdings handelt es sich beim Castello um die gleichnamige Pizzeria im Untergeschoss, die den Erwartungen an ein Hotel dieser Klasse (bei uns ca. 380 Eur/Nacht) in keiner Weise gerecht wurde. Die Pizzen sind ok, montags gibt es sie allerdings nicht - warum auch immer in einer Pizzeria. Die wenigen anderen Gerichte sind augenscheinlich zum sattwerden geeignet, ansonsten eher kein Genuss. Okay, hätte man sich vorher genauer informieren können, könnte man einwenden. Das Frühstück allerdings hat hier nicht mal einem 2-Sterne-Haus entsprochen, es war unsäglich minimalistisch, quasi ein Existentialistenfrühstück. Ab dem zweiten Tag gab es kein Brot mehr (nur noch Croissants, Toast und Mini-Brötchen), die verbrauchte Salami wurde nicht mehr nachgelegt, Obstsalat war am dritten Tag leer und wurde nicht mehr aufgefüllt, ebenso vielfach der O-Saft. Eierspeisen werden grundsätzlich nicht angeboten. Milch-Mischgetränke waren vielfach viel zu kalt, sowohl Cappucchino als auch Latte macchiato, ggf. zu kurz aufgeschäumt. Hinsichtlich des Brots wurde ein Gast am Nebentisch auf ihre Nachfrage vertröstet, man kaufe nicht mehr so viel, es lohne sich einfach nicht. Keine Entschuldigung, nichts. Man muss dazu sagen, dass der Frühstücksraum meist trotzdem so voll war, dass erst auf Nachfrage ein Tisch für uns freigeräumt wurde. Mangelnde Nachfrage nach einen gewöhnlichen Graubrot kann man sich also beim besten Willen nicht vorstellen. Leider trotz aller irgendwo ersichtlichen Bemühtheit des Kellners also unterirdisch.

Zwiegespaltenes Fazit: So schön die Zimmer in den 3-Seen-Häusern auch sind, kann zumindest im Sommer die Unterkunft nicht empfohlen werden, es sei denn man ist Selbstversorger. Für alle anderen sei noch das Dorfstadl 300 Meter weiter ins Dorf empfohlen. Es war am Ende unsere Rettung für eine gute Verpflegung.

Noch ein Hinweis: Wie wir später feststellten, fehlt auf der ausgestellten Rechnung jeder Hinweis auf den Gastgeber! Nur der Kassenbetreiber fiskaltrust.at ist genannt. Insofern also eine unbrauchbare Rechnung. Wer sie benötigt, sollte schon bei Abreise auf eine gültige...
