Sheki Saray Hotel — Hotel in Shaki

Stayed here in April 2022 with friends. This was part of a long road trip around the Caucasus area.||||Check-in was assisted by our tour guide and we got rooms soon enough. Aircon was under maintenance, so they shifted us to higher grade rooms on the top floor. The room size was the same but the spec is a lot higher/better…and of course everything worked. I appreciated the change in room, and also that management came and made sure we were okay.||||Rooms are standard for this category of hotel. Some reviews mentioned the loud square but we didn’t encounter any of that sound. I slept soundly the one night we were in Town. Bathrooms could be a little nicer. Top floor rooms have a nice view over the town, which is a positive. ||||We had a drink at the lobby bar and the staff were nice enough to run out and get some beer for us from the neighborhood store, as they were out. ||||We also received a couple of recommendations for dinner restaurants…the one we visited was an extremely short walk away, and was delicious. ||||The breakfast was included in our room package, but I must say was a bit spare and disappointing. Maybe it’s better when more guests are staying at the hotel.||||Overall, it’s just what I expected…I don’t imagine there is much better lodging...

We did not stay here - just came for a beer at the Buta bar. Buta bar itself is nothing special (nice place but on the evening we were there there were no other customers..), what we really appreciated was the support given by the clerk at the reception. He helped us in clarifying the best way to get a train ticket for the following day for Baku and, after calling the ticket office at the station, he sent us a taxi driver who supported us there while buying the ticket. Maybe the best service received so far...

Perfect location in center of old town. Next to a park-like square, city buses and taxis right outside, coffee shop, supermarket and restaurants close. Some employees speak English. Room 408 is a corner room with big windows on two sides. Clean except for a few stains on the carpet. Shower is good and water is hot. Breakfast is adequate; nothing special but good enough. Would be glad to stay in 408 again....
