Our family had an amazing week at Fowl Cay! ||We stayed in Seabreaze, which has three rooms and surrounding decks/walkways connecting them. It was great for our family-- an 11 year old, a 15 year old, and two parents. The two bedrooms each have a king size bed, but the kids' bedroom also had a pull out sleeper chair, which our daughter thought was very comfortable. Both bedrooms have full bathrooms, double sinks, and both indoor and outdoor showers. ||The people who work at Fowl Cay are absolutely lovely. They are friendly, warm, welcoming, and helpful. They make every guest feel very much at home and like they've known you for years. We were greeted by Kooba at the Staniel Cay airport and taken by a short boat ride (10 minutes or less) to Fowl Cay, where we were warmly greeted by Allan, Anna, and Petra. We spent a few hours on the first day getting a boat tutorial and test drive with Kooba, who was very patient and thorough. He gave us a map to help us navigate the waters to various local destinations, which we used all week. We found it very helpful to use his marked chart alongside our phones' satellite view maps because it's easy to lose track of where you are if you're not a boater normally. The little islands can start to look the same, and the low water levels can come up quickly if you're not paying attention.||Every person we interacted with at Fowl Cay Resort was so kind and helpful. Lemar was an excellent bartender and was generally just very attentive. Melony and Latavia (Tavi) were such excellent hosts for Seabreaze, texting us on the "house phone" to tell us anything we needed to know and ask for our food orders. They also checked in with us at Hill House to see what we might need. Monique was incredibly warm and kind at Hill House, too!||Our son loves to fish, and the resort provided bait for him whenever he wanted to go fishing, whether from the boat or from the shore. Our daughter loved tubing behind the boat. We all loved picnics on nearby sandbars. The boat was so much fun, and they provide everything you need and more for the outings-- snorkel gear, towels, beach chairs, noodles, lifejackets, fishing supplies, and even water proof bean bags to make the ride more comfortable for the passengers up front.||We thought it might be helpful to tell others what they might expect and need to pack for the trip.||We flew from Ft. Lauderdale to Staniel Cay on Makers Air in an 8 passenger plane that stopped once en route for customs in the Bahamas. The airline was nice, the pilots great. There is a weight limit on these planes, so we needed to tell them our weight when buying tickets and they weighed our luggage and carryons before we flew. We arrived at the Staniel Cay airport and it was a short walk (3 minutes?) to the boat to get to Fowl Cay (10 minutes?). ||Packing: you don't need anything fancy and they do provide a laundry service for $25 a load. Shorts, tee shirts, sun shirts, hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, and some clothes for dinner were perfect. We were there in March and had a few windy evenings, so we were happy to have long sleeves for dinner. While most people swim and snorkel happily in these beautiful waters, if you prefer super warm water you might consider a wet suit so you can see all of the beautiful marine life.||There IS a small gift shop on the island that has polarized sunglasses, all $25 so not a big deal if you forget to pack them like we did. They also sell sun shirts, tee shirts, Sun Bum sunscreen, and other things you might need on the island. Seabreaze AND Hill House had various games to play, so we hadn't needed to come prepared with cards, UNO, etc. Our family played pool at Hill House a lot. If you like tennis there is a turf tennis court, but you should bring balls and good rackets if you're a regular player. They provide them but it might be handy to have what you're used to, and the surface is a bit different! We had fun playing tennis.||The resort will pack a picnic for your boat trips, along with a cooler of whatever you prefer to have to drink. The lunches were delicious sandwiches or salads and plenty of food for everyone to snack on throughout the boat trips too. They ask you to have your boat back at the dock by 5, and the happy hour starts at 6:30 at Hill House; we found it nice to have a little structure in these relaxed days! ||Dinners were all delicious, and the menu was such a treat to see each day. We also heard from the chef at dinner each evening-- he was very warm and friendly, and clearly loves and is great at his work. The nightly menu includes a choice of a meat-based, fish-based, or vegetarian main course, or you can probably get whatever you want if the choices don't work. There is also a more traditional "kids" type meal nightly. ||The house was stocked with TONS of food and drinks and every morning they deliver a small fruit plate and either a baked item like muffins or croissants, or something like overnight oats. You will not go hungry there!||The house was very clean and comfortable, too. We are grateful for the people who cleaned it so nicely every day.||Tipping: you tip at the end of your stay so that the entire staff splits the tips. It's nice not to have to think about that at every turn since they are all so helpful throughout the stay.||Thank you all so much for a delightful, special family vacation. We can't wait to...
Read moreGo! Book that trip! It’s absolutely amazing!||I don’t have enough words to describe how fantastic our trip to Exuma was, which was made possible by the amazing folks at Fowl Cay Resort. We flew to Staniel Cay on Makers Air and didn’t know what to expect when we landed, so we were delighted to have the great Fowl Cay Resort service start with Alan greeting us at the airport to collect our luggage and take us to the island. There we were greeted on the dock by Petra and others, including island dogs Rosie and Rolly (Raleigh?). The warm, family-like personal service continued all week. So, if you’re on the fence, let me simply say: do it! Book your trip, you’ll love it.||There is a lot of good info in the reviews which I won’t go back over, but send me a PM if you have questions. In short, there were 5 of us, my wife and I and our grown daughters. We stayed in the Blue Moon villa for a week. We flew in and out on Makers Air from/to Ft. Lauderdale/Staniel Cay. I highly recommend that by the way, as the views alone are worth it, as is the simple and easy clearing of customs on both the Bahamian side and the US when we returned. As for Fowl Cay Resort, they provide almost everything you could possibly need. You really just need to show up, everything else is provided for. ||Fowl Cay is essentially your own private island vacation, as there are only a few villas so the number of guests is limited. We spent our days on the boat that came with our villa, stocked with provisions and confident thanks to the guidance Alan and team gave us … plus their well-marked charts. We felt like we had the nearby islands and sand bars of Exuma to ourselves. ||They stock your villa full of food and drinks so you all you have to do is show up. They think through the little things, for example they provide beach bags for you. Want to go out on the boat all day? They have it ready in the morning, with a full tank of gas, snorkel gear, towels, a full cooler of drinks, and a Yeti full of food. Just bring your hat and sunscreen, or you can buy some in their little shop. If you prefer to go down to the beach, you can walk or drive the golf cart they provide you. There’s a fridge with wine, beer, soft drinks and water down there, as well as towels. Again, all you have to do is show up. That’s how it is across the board — they’ve thought of everything!||Fowl Cay Resort is great for folks who appreciate a personal touch, who want to get away from it all, who can choose their own adventure, and are happy in an environment where you feel as though you’ve been invited to someone’s home for the week. It’s probably not for everyone, though. It’s not a pristine, Ritz Carlton manicured experience. The villa has a spot here and there that needs paint, so if you’re picky enough that that will spoil your trip, this might not be for you. There isn’t a bartender at the beach, but as noted they provide a fully stocked refrigerator. None of that mattered to us, as the overall experience exceeded expectations.||For my family, it was perfect. We literally felt like family with all the great staff, from Alan and Ana, to Petra, Lamar the amazing bartender, Ednisha and all the ladies … too many to list (and my memory isn’t great!) … they made our week! ||Yes, it’s expensive. But if you add up all they provide, it’s worth it. Due to the cost, we had high expectations. They absolutely exceeded those expectations, by a wide margin.||I wish I could give it more...
Read moreI had been considering a family vacation to Fowl Cay for several years and finally booked it July 2025 and it was everything that I hoped it would be and more! My husband and I plus our 2 sons who are in their 20’s thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Bird Cage Villa! It was the perfect layout with my husband and I staying on the main floor king suite while our sons shared the lower level which has a bedroom plus a living area with a pullout sofa and a full bath. The lower level opens out to the outdoor seating area which overlooks the private pier—the perfect place to swim or to cast a line. We saw turtles and while swimming there one morning a large friendly nurse shark swam right by! |On the main level you will find the king bedroom plus a generous, comfortable open layout with a fully stocked kitchen, a stocked bar area in the living room with comfortable furniture. You can walk out French doors off the dining area to the beautiful outdoor covered veranda overlooking the water with comfy seating for morning coffee or cocktails plus there’s even a screened porch! Gorgeous water views from every window—we immediately felt right at home here!|The Fowl Cay staff are all amazing! We flew Makers Air into Staniel Cay where Alan greeted us immediately after landing. He steered us to lunch at the yacht club and came back to get us when it was time to check in. The Fowl Cay staff are a well organized team taking care of every detail—as we approached Fowl Cay with Alan captaining the boat, Petra and Anna were ready to welcome us waving hello and accompanied by happy barks from the pair of friendly resort Labrador Retriever ambassadors Rolly and Rosie! Every day Melony our Villa concierge would check in with us to arrange everything we needed for our daily plans. Almost every day we chose to go out on the boat which was ready and waiting stocked with all essentials including a packed lunch and drinks of our choice and a map and snorkel gear to explore the stunning islands and crystal clear waters—the shades of blue are breathtaking!! Fantastic snorkeling and swimming!|Exquisite nightly dinners at the Hill House awaited us and included craft cocktails, a game of pool or darts or us just relaxing and reviewing the days events.|This is not the trip for people who want to sit and be waited on hand and foot lounging by an extravagant pool with a beach club—that’s a great trip too, I’ve done that and it’s awesome! This is a bit more of an adventure—it’s for people and families that want a bit of exclusivity on a small gorgeous island with boat and golf cart access plus attentive knowledgeable staff. It’s barefoot luxury, not shiny high end plush posh style, Fowl Cay is laid back well thought out solid upscale accessible luxury. |Huge shout out to Petra, Anna, Alan, the Chef, to Jose our friendly bartender, Ednisha, Kuba, Melony—all amazing wonderful people as well as every single other incredible staff member who were there to take care of us! We loved Fowl Cay so much as we said our goodbyes we immediately booked another family trip...
