Kamalame Cay is like no other beach vacation my wife and I have ever been on. To the 4 miles of deserted beach with the waves gently lapping against the white sand beach. You feel like you in the novel Robinson Crusoe. As we laid in our lounge chairs the most people we saw walking the beach was 3. |If you come alone or as a couple the bungalows are perfect and steps away from the beach/ocean. You get your ocean views on the front side and your views of the Mangroves on your back deck. The peace, solitude and view is unmatched. If you come with other friends/ family KC has a beautiful variety of villas and homes to choose from. |As other reviews have mentioned you can be as social or reclusive as you so choose. As you take your Sand chariot or bikes down the sand road which is surrounded by palm trees you come to the main area where the Pineapple house, Great room, Monkey bar and the beach Tiki bar are located. Make sure to plug your golf carts in to charge when you go eat and drink. |The menus have a wonderful selection,We tried most of the food along with the Bahamian favorites. I was a big fan of the Lion fish and grits and my wife loved the Curried chicken and KC’s version of KFC. We thought all the food was delicious and the portions were generous. Depending on lunch or dinner time and having a few cocktails is your thing you can settle into the tiki bar (lunch) or the Monkey bar(dinner) . We met some other wonderful guests at both places.|The beautiful scenery, accommodations and amenities were excellent but what separates Kamalame Cay from the rest is the people who ran this slice of paradise. To us it never felt like we were the guests and you all were the staff. You all were extended family by the end of our trip with the great conversations and the fun good natured back and forth bantering. Such great memories, To my wife and I this is what made KC so special!! |Which I would like to recognize the tremendous management team. To Aaron who greeted us at almost every meal and took the time to be so informative about KC and how the Hew family made it all happen. Unfortunately we did not get to meet the Hews but hopefully we’ll have the pleasure of their acquaintance next year on our return trip. | If Aaron wasn’t around Dennis was there. Thank you to Dennis for jumping into action after dinner one night to get us a ‘to go bag’ of wine, beer and water after he found out there was a miscue about our fridge being restocked. Greatly appreciated Dennis! | To Dave for taking the time to give us a tour of the beautiful home which is called Indigo Palm. | To the most infectious smile on the island Reno. Being the 1st to greet us on the cay and show us the lay of the land. Also helping us set up our picnic basket lunch. Which was full of curried chicken salad, delicious Sammie’s, fruit, wine, beer and Evian water. Ask for the form , pick out your choices and head over to the North beach like we did for a romantic peaceful picnic. | To Shawn and Adam our snorkeling crew. Thank you for being so informative about the reef , the blue holes which we snorkeled. Seeing all the beautiful fish and the big female sting rays hiding in the sand was awesome. You could tell by our conversation how much you both cared about your jobs and the preservation of the reef. | To Samson,Gary, Tim, Allan, James , Ten, Resi, Therzen and the rest of the staff. Sorry we couldn’t remember all your names. A heartfelt THANK YOU! | A special shout out to Gary. Just to give an example of how wonderful all the staff is at KC. Not only did Gary take great care of us while he was on duty but on his day off came back to the cay to drop off for us some of his delicious jerk ribs, pork, chicken, spiny lobster and conch from the jerk shack he operates on Andros. Have you ever been on vacation and have someone on their day off do that for you? And we brought home Gary’s 2 bottles of homemade jerk sauce. Tangy spicy deliciousness. | Yes million dollar views everywhere you look but the beautiful kind hearted people who run KC is what made our trip. The VIBE of KC is beyond compare. Thank you for such a memorable, relaxing scenic experience. Already looking forward to seeing our extended family next year. We have found our beach...
Read moreI don't often write reviews, but I felt compelled to after the absolutely disastrous experience we had at this so-called "luxury" resort. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this place was far from the standard they advertise. First of all, we were never given a tour or even a simple map upon arrival—just dropped off in the dark with no clue about where anything was. To make matters worse, the golf cart we were given to get to our rooms was already showing signs of a dead battery. When we flagged down the young staff, they assured us it was fine, and we proceeded to our rooms in the pouring rain. Of course, the cart died shortly after, and rather than offering assistance, the staff began ramming the cart to push it forward. This was not only unprofessional, but it was also dangerous. I had to sit in the back just to hold the luggage in place, and I was nearly hit by the cart multiple times. I can't believe how reckless they were. When we finally made it to our room, we noticed the fridge was broken and there was a "Happy Birthday" card on the dresser—even though neither of us were celebrating a birthday. We reported the fridge issue, and they promised to fix it, but after multiple requests over several days, it wasn't fixed until the day before our departure. By then, all the food had spoiled. What a waste of our time! But the golf cart problems didn’t stop there. It died again on the way to our event, and once again, the staff took forever to help us. We finally got a cart swap, but it was just another hassle in a long line of them. We also had a spa appointment that we booked two months in advance. When we arrived, we were told they were overbooked and to come back later. We returned that same day only to find they were still overbooked. The next day, we tried again—only to find the spa was closed entirely. We tried calling and texting the front desk, but no one responded. After showing up in person, we were told the spa staff had left for the day. Absolutely unprofessional. Housekeeping only cleaned our room once during our stay. And then, after they cleaned, they locked us out of the room. When we flagged them down for help, they refused to let us in, and we had to climb over the fence to access our outdoor shower. Are you serious? Water was scarce—no drinking water until our last day, and the restaurant was frequently closed. We also had no phone in the room, barely any cell service, and whenever we tried to contact anyone via WhatsApp, it was ignored. The staff in general were unhelpful and seemed to care less about the guests. We expressed our frustration to the assistant manager multiple times, but there was no resolution offered. When we finally followed up with them in December, they completely ignored our emails. I only heard back in January, and they claimed they comped our "incidentals"—but without any way of verifying what that even meant, it felt like a hollow attempt to placate us. On top of all this, there were false advertisements. The resort claims to have a pickleball court (it’s actually a construction site), and the tennis court looked like it was about to be sold. The Wi-Fi is nonexistent, and they advertised a hotspot for $70 a day—yet when we asked to use it, they said there were none available and none would be available for the rest of our stay. The safe in the room was broken, and the back door didn’t lock. There was a sign that read, "If you love it, lock it up," which is just sketchy and suggests there are issues with theft. Would I stay here again? Absolutely not. This place is NOT a 5-star resort, and it’s not even close to being worthy of a "luxury" label. Do yourself a favor—avoid this place...
Read moreA huge disappointment. Poor communication leading up to our vacation - that should’ve been our first sign of what was to come. Our staff coordinator failed to communicate that our flight was arriving too late in the day to go to the island so we had to last minute find a place to stay in Nassau and pay for a night on the island when we couldn’t even go there. Arrived on the island to find everything in varying degrees of disrepair. Nothing met the standards of what one would expect at this price point. For example, soap provided in bungalow was a bar of caress soap without a soap dish, phone didn’t always work, golf cart we were assigned was broken with no working lights, room has no place to put luggage, zero counter space in bathroom, drain never worked properly even though we asked for it to be fixed, room leaked water. Food was lacking. Often times we’d place an order for food and it would just never arrive. Be prepared to wait a long time to order food and receive food. Fruit delivered for morning breakfast was often inedible. No food menus in room. We tried to order room service and that proved impossible. When we could find staff to help us, they were all very kind. There was a random broken down golf cart on the side of the road our entire stay. We also almost got in a wreck with a golf cart with staff because road not lit and both our cart and staff cart didn’t have working lights. The one shining star of the trip was the dive team. I’m sure in its heyday the island was a magical place. It saddens me to see the current level of disrepair. Staff are aware and do their best to do what they can, but the issues are beyond them. Billing was all kinds of wrong, but based on our experience thus far we suspected there would be problems and were prepared to go line by line reviewing charges. This shouldn’t be the case since we selected for our trip to be all inclusive. Take your money and vacation time elsewhere. You are essentially paying thousands and thousands of dollars to go on a fairly primitive cabin camping trip. There is nothing luxury about this resort other than it’s on a...
