We go to Eleuthera regularly but usually stay in the Governors Harbour area. This time we wanted to dive, and the Dive Shop at Cape Eleuthera has good reviews, so we decided to stay here. |We booked a one bedroom ocean front cottage, which is very newly built. The landscaping around it wasn’t even complete. The accommodations are very nice, tastefully decorated, and our bed was comfortable. The one bedroom cottages have no kitchen, however, they provide a mini fridge and a coffee maker. We discovered that the restaurant does not open for breakfast, and there is nothing offering breakfast within 30 min drive. The staff at the resort offered to have someone bring breakfast to us the first morning. This was a special arrangement that they don’t usually do. We were grateful for this but didn’t want to be an inconvenience. We drove 30 mins to find a grocery store. We bought bagels and cream cheese, then requested a toaster for the remainder of our stay. The staff happily obliged. |The one resteraunt on the property serves decent food, although since it is the ONLY eating establishment in the area, if you are there for more than a few days, the menu is limiting. On Fridays, it closes at 5pm, and the only available food is pizza from a trailer on site. Sunday ‘brunch’ is served from 12 noon, and that is the only menu for that day/evening. I would recommend booking a 2 bedroom accommodation which would include a kitchen, then purchase groceries on your way to the resort if you would like breakfast, and some other options for lunch/dinner. |We were the only people in the restaurant for two evenings. The staff confirmed that there were only a handful of units occupied.|We love Eleuthera, and will return soon, but we will not stay here. The highlight of our time at Cape Eleuthera was the scuba diving. We had two wonderful afternoons with Chad and Anderson. Without the Dive Shop, we would not have stayed. Next time, we will stay at French Leave in Governors Harbour, and drive to The Dive Shop. French Leave has similar pricing for accomodation, but all the amenities you would expect, with many extras to make your stay more memorable. Cape Eleuthera has so much potential. The staff are awesome, and they also wish that there were more amenities available for guests. Very frustrating and...
Read moreLittle piece of heaven on earth. We visited during high season, but we're usually the only ones at the beach. Beautiful sunrise AND sunset beache with take your breath away just to be stunned moments after by a nurse shark or a ray lazily swimming by.
We stayed at a villa which provided plenty of space for our family (M+D+5yo+1yo+nanny) and was beautifully furnished with everything we needed including washer and dryer and fully equipped kitchen. Dinners on the patio after sunset were a great way to end our day. Coffee maker with coffee is ready for you when you arrive as well as 4 beach towels.
The resort around the marina is quite spacious so be ready to clock in some steps. Or rent a golf cart, we found it very useful for days we spent at the resort.
We ate at the Harbour Pointe restaurant which is part of the resort and offers delicious food and drinks (no breakfast though and no delivery, only take out if you want to eat at the villa). You can shop for breakfast on your way from the airport or have the resort personnel shop for you for $25 fee. We opted for pancakes with fruit and loved it each day.
Do leave one day to visit Eleuthera and experience local lifestyle. We visited French Leave beach with pink sand and Leon Levy Natural Reserve and we loved both. Without small kids you might make it all the way to Window Bridge.
Check with Kat or Dolly and ask for a boat trip. We did a whole day trip and it was definitely worth it. Did some snorkeling at coral reef, stopped at picturesque Lighthouse Beach and from there fished all the way to the Schooner Cays didn't catch much except for two barracudas but the sand bars at Schooner Cays are like from another world. The fish were not good for eating for us but the sharks in the marina sure liked them. Yet another experience we will never forget.
Last but not least, we traveled with 1yo and 5yo. I won't say it was easy but we managed quite fine and had loads of fun. So don't be afraid to travel with small kids we are grateful we did and made some...
Read moreWe just spent 5 days here in one of the 2 bedroom townhouses and loved it. It's somewhat remote and very quiet, which is what we were looking for.
The resort has a small restaurant/bar with a limited menu, but food was excellent. The service can be a bit slow at times, but is very friendly.
There is a small market that is open daily. They offer basic items/snacks, water, liquor etc. You can also purchase gas to fill up your car.
The resort also has free Wifi, although we found it to be very slow and it frequently goes down. Not a big problem, since we really wanted to spend most of the time outside anyway.
The townhouses were very comfortable, clean and had everything you need.
There are several beaches in close walking distance (Sunset Beach was our favorite), as well as awesome snorkeling (our favorite was 4th Hole Beach and Ocean Pool).
Highly recommend renting a car to get around on this resort and...
