Last weekend my family and I stayed at the Grand River View Hotel. We had two rooms for two nights. In the middle of the second night, someone tried to use a keycard to get into our room. It woke us up, but we assumed someone just tried the wrong room by mistake. Five minutes later, they tried again... and it opened the door! Even though we had deadbolted it!
I yelled, "Hey!" as loudly as I could, and they ran away. I tried looking in the hall to see who it was, but they had run away.
I called the front desk, and all he could say was, "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry," but he could not (or would not) tell me what had happened.
I tried checking on my children in their room, but they were sleeping, so they did not answer my knock or my phone call. Not knowing how someone got into our room, and not knowing if our children were safe, we did not sleep much for the rest of the night.
In the morning, I spoke to the manager. She had not heard anything about the problem from the night workers. When she heard what had happened, she turned to her trainee and said, "This is SO bad!" Her supervisor reviewed the camera footage, and it was a bellboy and two new guests checking in. The front desk had tried to check them into an occupied room. The key didn't work, and the front desk again gave them a new key... to MY room! And then rather than apologizing immediately, the bellboy ran away! And apparently the front desk staff knew what happened, since he apologized, but he would not tell me.
I told the supervisor that I expect two things from a hotel room: safety, and a place to sleep. Since I got neither, I suggested that they should not charge me for my room, at least not for that night. Unfortunately, he refused.
The hotel made a huge security mistake. They admitted the fault was entirely their own. And they did nothing to make it up to us.
The supervisor offered to fire the bellboy, as if that would somehow make up for my lost sleep. I explained to him that he was just doing his job, going to the room the front desk clerk told him, and firing him would make no difference.
So, poor security. Poor customer service. I will never go back. You...

   Read moreFirst of all, VERY VERY EXPENSIVE HOTEL. But despite high cost, they also offer very good service. Their professionalism is close to any 5 star grade hotels.
Room: We went three person and took the twin bed with one extra bed for 10,500 taka per night. But surprisingly idk why the lady at the front desk gave us an upgrade and gave the family room with one double bed and one single bed.
And yeah, I can tell after staying over countless amount of hotels, this room is close to their top level rooms in the hotel. The room was by far one of the best room I've ever stayed. The design of the window takes the room's beauty to another level. But As you can see in the picture, there is a very giant glass that creates a partition between bedroom and washroom. It was really embarrassing for us to use the toilet cuz you can easily see the traces of the person behind the glass. Idk who had this idea to place a giant ass glass in the middle of the room. Though I've seen similar designs in thailand and some of Malaysian hotel. But considering Bangladesh and most importantly rajshahi i didn't expect this kind of design.
Service: Great. The staffs could be a bit more humble but its okay. They were chill persons. Room service was good. Everything was upto mark
Food and buffet: Its depressing seeing such bad performance on buffet. Within 9:45, most of the food were finished and no one refilled it. Food taste was also very average. Low amount of variation. Only a few items were actually edible.
Swimming Pool: More like a large bathtub. You cant swim freely due to how small the pool is. But it comes with a very beautiful scenery. Its an infinity pool so you know you can capture beautiful pictures.
Ambience: PEAK AMBIENCE. Very beautifully decorated. Even the corridor has a super soft carpet which is fun to walk on. Front desk, buffet restaurant, pool Everything were top notch.
Finally, idk about Hotel X but to me this is the best hotel...
