River Lodge - Hôtel Insolite — Hotel in Anhée

We visited the region of Maredsous to promote our B2B line of products to the local restaurants/hotels and we selected to sray at River Lodge.||||During the seach of a hotel we have been atracted by the unique style/them proposed for each room. We selected to stay at TITANIC room, but for sure there is a room for everybody's. For our next visit we will chose a different room to check.||||Easy to find you have just enough parking place, so once parked in the evening do not use better your car in the evening.||||The check in is starting from 17:00, which is late compare to the general check in time, but it clearly mentioned and you can make your planning for the day based on that.||||This is a family hotel and your are welcomed in the reception by Rodolphe or Amandine and they are very friendly.||||The hotel has just open a year ago and you see that everything is new and not only new but is above average quality...you feel immediately at home.||||There are not a lot of rooms, so you cannot be lost, but since this is an old house /farm and the space has been used to the full you have stairs left, right and you can be confused to find your room, especialy when no number (that's OK since they have no numbers) but a goog idea would be to put the name of the room's them...this will help the guests.||||As mentioned above we selected the "TITANIC" room is a type of small duplex. Bottom you have the "living" with the toilette and the douche and on top you have the master bedroom.||The other unique experiance in the room are the use of ultraviolet lights, which combined with the speacial peinting used on the walls is creating an unique feeling and experience. Every room is painted with motives related to he room's them.||||You have an opne douche space and we liked the wooden style tailes used to make the walls in the bathroom.||||The bed on top is a king size bed and is a very good quality.||||In the "living" you have a TV, minibar and offered bottle of water. All the furnitures and design of the room have been selected to be as much as close to the them of the room.||||You can boil water with a mini water boiler, which nice, but in our opinion the owner could propose i/o a small Nespresso machine, which will definately match with quality standing of the hotel and requested room price for it.||||There is a electrical heating system, which we did not used...However we must say that on the top where the bed is it was very hot. We understand that due to the wall paintings and the hotel structure, it's dofficult to have an incorporated A/C system, but maybe a small mobile A/C system will be appropriate and this will for sure give to the customers a good feeling.||||The breakfast is served in the room at request by the guest time and it's delisious. I must say that although not big the breakfast is composed from high quality products (freash orange juce, good coffe and small very tasty surprises, which I will keep for you to remain as surprises...;-))||||You have WIFI coverage in the whole hotel.||||So in conclusion this is a nice place to stay if you can pay for it but definately is...

Landelijk prachtig gelegen hotel langs een kabbelend riviertje La Molignée en vlakbij een fietspad, de Ravel W4/L150a, welke dalend naar de Maas loopt tot in Anhée. Voor een bezoek aan de vlakbij gelegen abdij van Maredsous (2 km) is er wel een stevige klim nodig van 180 naar 220 meter boven zeeniveau. De abdij ligt dus niet minder dan 40 meter hoger dan het hotel.|Na de boeking en de betaling krijgt men ongeveer 24 uur voor aankomst een e-mail die voorzien is van een stuurknop die u naar een programma op het internet zal leiden om toegang te krijgen tot het hotel.|U krijgt daar dan drie verschillende rode stuurknoppen te zien, waarmee u de voordeur, de toegewezen kamerdeur en de deur naar het terras achteraan het hotel, kan openen.|Het avondmaal dat “Le Festin du Moulin” genoemd wordt, is ook iets speciaals. Het staat al op de kamer klaar in een koelkast samen met een microgolfoven om de gerechten op te warmen. De verschillende gerechten zijn zeer speciaal van smaak, erg ongewoon doch wel zeer lekker vooral door de verschillende smaakcombinaties. Echt iets voor een smaak liefhebber. Een klein minpuntje waren wel de erg botte broodmessen waarmee we bijna niet doorheen de broodjes konden snijden.|Ook het ruim bemeten ontbijt wordt in principe naar de kamer gebracht met een mand die voor de deur wordt neergezet nadat er werd aangebeld. Wij waren er met 5 fietsers, die in drie verschillende kamers logeerden. Naar aanleiding van onze vraag werd ons ontbijt in de vergaderzaal op het gelijkvloers bij de ingang geserveerd zodat we toch nog samen hebben kunnen ontbijten.|De kamers zijn duplexen met een salonnetje en een eethoekje op de eerste verdieping en een verdiep hoger het ruim bemeten slaapgedeelte. Zo een duplex geeft enerzijds heel wat ruimte doch heeft anderzijds wel het nadeel dat het rap al te warm wordt daarboven. Een ventilator bij het slaapgedeelte zou mogelijk hiervoor een oplossing kunnen zijn.|De inrichting van de kamers is ook weer iets speciaals. Iedere kamer is totaal anders gedecoreerd en dit volgens en bepaald thema. Ik had de “Krypton” kamer vlakbij het terras gelegen aan de achterzijde van het hotel. Mijn fietsmaten hadden kamers die “Titanic” (met onderzee effect) en Kalahari (met woestijn effect) noemden.|Met gedempt licht heeft de “Krypton” kamer, waar ik overnacht heb, een zeer speciaal effect dat moeilijk op een foto is weer te geven.|Nog iets heel speciaals aan dit hotel. Om bij mijn kamer te komen moest ik niet minder dan 22 traptreden bestijgen. Desondanks lag mijn kamer op het gelijkvloers van het terras. Dit wordt veroorzaakt doordat het hotel tegen een heuvel is aangebouwd.|Verder zijn er ruime parkeermogelijkheden vlakbij het hotel. Doch de met grind verharde toegangsweg van een paar honderd meter lang had wel verschillende putten in de weg dat het fietsen niet zo gemakkelijk maakte. |Het hotel is wel niet goedkoop te noemen, doch wel de prijs waard gezien het speciale ervan. Voor een niet fietser en/of niet wandelaar zijn er in de omgeving niet veel toeristische...

The location is wonderful for those that want a great walk. The breakfast is ok but mediocre for the room prices. We had a horrible first night because the shower didn't function so we couldn't shower evening and the morning due to nobody being available not by phone, mail or else. No emergency options. Next day new room. But haven't been compensated for the first night. The owner didn't take ownership at all. Was in defence and just not a good host. Even though she tried to be present the day after so we checked in the new room.... But no compensation was there she thought not needed... Very low service, no attitude. Also next morning stinky moter under our window running for half hour stinking the room and loud at 6.30 in the morning. Then that cobtinued with trash pickup all underneath the window. And they have no airco so to sleeping with open window is needed. Therefore I wouldn't...
