La Roseraie. Gaume-Ardenne-lacuisine sur Semois. — Hotel in Florenville

Stayed for one night when travelling from the UK to Greece. On arrival we were greeted by the hotel owner who was very friendly (although had to speak my very spoken French with her!) and made my mother and I very welcome. We had a drink in the terrace outside which has the most wonderful view of the river. Although the dinner offered was at another nearby hotel, we were tired after our long journey and wanted to relax in our room. Unfortunately there was nothing on offer to purchase in the way of snacks, so we had to make do with what we had on us, which we were grateful for. ||The room was very cosy and clean and was perfect for what we needed. The next morning breakfast was laid out and was exceptional. For 1 night stay this hotel is totally fine. the coffee is VERY good! But there are some issues: We have reserved a room in the Grand Confort category - the room was very small (room #10). We wonder how small are the rooms in the lower category. Very little space in the bathroom. This was disappointing. But the room itself was clean. While the owner is very friendly, it is very hard to communicate if you do not speak French. Not only at the hotel but also in town people hardly speak any other language and do not make an effort to speak slower or clearer. Side note: even with cable TV in the room there are ONLY french speaking channels (in a country with 3 official languages...). The hotel bar was closed in the evening It is time to change the carpet in the corridors and stairs... Not anyone's fault but you do need to drive every time you want to go to town: dinner, snacks, a walk - you must drive.

Une nuit dans un hôtel charmant mais aux horaires frustrants – notre expérience du 19/04/2025

Contexte de notre séjour Nous avions réservé une nuit dans cet hôtel dans le cadre d’un week-end de randonnée. Une longue et magnifique balade était prévue, mais elle demandait des heures de marche. Malheureusement, après la réservation, nous avons réalisé que le check-in se termine à 18h – un détail qui, selon nous, ne correspond pas à l’esprit “détente” d’un séjour de vacances.

Les horaires – un vrai point noir • Check-in : entre 16h et 18h → Trop court. Stressant. • Petit-déjeuner : entre 8h et 9h30 → Franchement trop tôt pour un hôtel de ce standing. Ces horaires ne laissent pas vraiment de place à la flexibilité, surtout si on veut profiter d’un week-end pour se reposer.

Réaction de l’hôtel Heureusement, nous avons appelé l’hôtel, et ils ont accepté de nous accueillir après 18h. Le personnel a été très gentil et compréhensif – gros point positif. Néanmoins, cela m’a mise sous pression pendant la randonnée, et j’ai eu du mal à me détendre totalement.

Le personnel et l’ambiance • Personnel adorable, accueillant et professionnel. • Décoration du lieu : moi, j’ai adoré – un style un peu ancien mais chaleureux. Certains pourraient trouver ça “démodé”, mais ça a du charme. • Ambiance générale : très calme, classe, presque chic, surtout dans les espaces communs.

Le petit-déjeuner et les parties communes • Petit-déjeuner correct, avec une belle vue sur le jardin bucolique depuis la salle. • Le lounge à côté du restaurant est vraiment un endroit à part – cosy, élégant, parfait pour se détendre. • Dommage : le restaurant était fermé (samedi de Pâques, 19/04/2025).

La chambre – bien équipée, quelques détails à savoir Voici ce que vous trouverez dans la chambre : • Frigo-bar, climatisation, Senseo (à déplacer pour pouvoir brancher…) • Coffre-fort, nombreux rangements • Salle de bain compacte, mais bien pensée : • Bain à jets + douche • Sèche-cheveux, mini shampooing/conditionneur • Cotons démaquillants à profusion • Grand miroir + miroir maquillage • Toilettes séparées

Conclusion – on recommande, mais avec réserves Les + : • Personnel sympathique • Chambre propre et bien équipée • Petit-déjeuner dans un cadre splendide • Lounge agréable • Parfait pour une nuit de passage • Parking spacieux • Ascenseur

Les – : • Horaires trop stricts (check-in jusqu’à 18h, petit-déj jusqu’à 9h30) • Restaurant fermé lors de notre passage • Peu de flexibilité pour ceux qui veulent se détendre sans regarder l’heure

À qui je recommande cet hôtel ? • À ceux qui, comme nous, ont juste besoin d’une étape d’une nuit dans la région. • Pas idéal pour un long séjour ou pour les vacanciers qui aiment dormir un peu plus tard.

Un endroit charmant avec beaucoup de potentiel, mais qui gagnerait à offrir un peu plus de souplesse pour vraiment mériter...
