My husband and I stayed at Tranquility Bay for 6 nights at the end of September into October for our honeymoon trip. My husband discovered Tranquility Bay after multiple internet searches. We didn't know anyone that had been to Belize, so reviews were all we had to go by. The reviews for Tranquility Bay seemed great and the pictures were gorgeous, so we took a shot in the dark and booked the trip. I'm not going to lie, I was slightly nervous going in to it. When we flew from Belize City to San Pedro, we had to wait at the tiny airport for about 20 minutes before our taxi arrived. He finally arrived and took us on a 5 minute drive to a dock, where a boat and 2 Tranquility Bay employees were waiting for us. They were super pleasant and welcoming. We loaded into the boat and off we went up the coast. The 2 guys told us all kinds of historical facts about Belize, they pointed out places on the coast as well as animals in the water. After a super enjoyable 30 minute ride, we arrived at Tranquility Bay to what seemed like a welcome party. There were people waiting on the dock to greet us and before we took 2 steps on the dock, we were handed a cocktail. We got the quick tour and were escorted to our cabana. The resort, all the cabanas and the view of the Caribbean were breathtaking. Never in my life did I think I would get to experience that "postcard" beach picture. Our cabana was clean, small, and simple, just what we wanted. The front porch was literally on the sand and maybe a 12 step walk to the sea. Chairs and hammocks were set up in front of our cabana as well as down the length of the private beach. The beach is only about 12 cabanas long, and that might even be stretching it. During our trip, we had access to kayaks and snorkeling gear, which we used on the daily. I swear we paddled the length of 4 football fields out and the water was absolutely crystal and bath water warm and the reef has an abundance of beautiful sea life. We ate all of our meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner at the one and only restaurant on the property, The Aquarium. And enjoyed all of our beverages from The Tacklebox. The food was spectacular each and every time. Everything was so fresh. It looked gorgeous and tasted amazing. My husband and I never looked forward to meals so much, because they were all so perfect. We still are talking about the coffee creamer that was different than what us Americans use, the Belizean eggs, the fish, and the rice that was different every night! Oh and the rum cake...so good! The server in the restaurant and bar, Nigel, was outstanding. He was friendly, polite, made helpful suggestions, and great drinks! I think my husband and I looked forward to talking to Nigel at each meal more than we did actually eating. Every night during dinner, the lights under the restaurant and over the sea turn on and you can see all kinds of sea life: eagle ray, pencil fish, barracuda, and tons more. Nigel made it a point to show us the different fish and explain things about them to us. During our trip, we also had a romantic dinner on the beach, which was so fun! Tiki torches, wine, conch shells, the whole nine yards. The resort also booked a day trip for us, we went snorkeling at Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley, as well as sightseeing on Caye Caulker. The resort boated us back down to San Pedro for the excursion and they were waiting there to pick us up at the end of the day. One day early on in the trip, I was not feeling well. The staff at the resort was nice enough to pick up some medicine for me in town. And the next days they went out of their way to see if I was feeling better, which I was...I couldn't let a little illness prevent me from spoiling this amazing trip. Overall, Tranquility Bay Resort went above and beyond any and all expectations I could have had for our honeymoon. They made sure that we had the most fun, yet relaxing experience I could have ever dreamed of. We cannot wait until we can go back to Belize and...
Read moreIn the middle of July, my best friend called about an exciting offer to go to Belize. I wasn't even sure where Belize was! But, I was dealing with family drama and decided that I really needed to get away from it all. The BEST decision I could have made!!! Our extremely helpful travel agent, Beth DeVincent, sent us information/tips on packing, supplies, etc. She also made all the arrangements for us to arrive hassle-free at Tranquility Bay Resort, which is in a more remote part on Ambergris Caye. |My friend and I stayed in a beautiful lodging that was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen area had a microwave, coffee pot, small refrigerator, and purified drinking water. It was also supplied with dishes, utensils, etc. |We were right on the white sandy beach. A few feet further was a short dock that led to the most FABULOUS restaurant!!! It was casual, warm, and friendly. Though casual in appearance, the food that was served would give any 5-star restaurant competition. The chefs were outstanding! In fact, tourists staying at other high-end resorts would make the journey to eat at our restaurant...many times during the week. They served delicious breakfasts/lunches/dinners at reasonable prices. The wait staff were kind and courteous, and would bend over backwards to make our vacation enjoyable. |My friends and I (4 of us) were part of a larger tour group of 13. Each night a special dinner was prepared for us (taco night, pasta night, seafood night, etc.). We were treated like royalty! The desserts each night were soo good! And of course, the fresh fish was the best!!! By the end of our stay, the employees had become friends!|Since Tranquility Bay is in a more remote part of the Caye, Beth made golf carts available for us to travel to San Pedro, etc. There were options to go scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing, etc. Because I was there mainly to relax, I didn't partake in any of those. But several members of our group did, and said that they had very enjoyable experiences. |The manager of the resort, Axcel, was very visible and friendly. He took the time to check if we were having a good time, and would help with anything we asked for. He made it a point to see that we were enjoying our stay.|Because there was a constant light breeze, the mosquitoes were kept at bay. And it made it comfortable to sit in the sun. I did need to use insect repellent on the golf-cart trips that I took.|The one thing I must comment on is the sargassum that washes up on the beach and coast. This seaweed is a problem that the the coastal islands/resorts have no control over. Unfortunately, our visit was during the time of year when it was the heaviest. But...there was a solution! We were allowed to use the gorgeous swimming pool of a very high-end resort that was a 10 minute golf-cart ride down the road. Additionally, we were an hour away (by golf-cart) from a perfect beach (complete with free lounge chairs and umbrellas, as well as bars and restaurants). Also, the swimming off the dock at our resort was very nice, too. I really enjoyed that!|They say that laughter is medicine for the soul. I laughed so much, and had such a good time in this little Paradise called Tranquility Bay Resort. I am so grateful for my time there, and for the people who worked so hard to make it enjoyable. I certainly hope that I get the...
Read moreTranquility Bay is so true to it's name. Once you get off the beaten path you'll truly find yourself in the best place Ambergris Caye has to offer. You're far enough away from the bustle of San Pedro, that you feel like you have paradise all to yourself. ||The rooms have the most stunning ocean views that you could imagine. Every morning you'll wake up 10 steps from the beach, and you'll open the door to a calming ocean breeze. Inside the villa's you'll find a well decorated, tropical place to call home. The beds are comfortable with plenty of pillows. The air conditioning is crisp, and a perfect retreat if it's too hot. Even though the rooms are nice, you'll honestly be out everyday enjoying the resort.||I haven't even mentioned the best part of this whole place yet. It's the restaurant! A few steps from the villa's you'll find the the best food and even better people. We stayed a week and we were in love with all the food every night. The food quality is truly mind blowing and you can't help but wonder how they make it happen all the way out there. ||If you can believe it, there's is one more thing that truly stands above everything else Tranquility Bay has to offer, and it's the hospitality. The people I met there were the kindest, funnest, friendliest, most accommodating people I've met in my life. That includes everyone, the house keepers, the people raking the beach, the chefs, and of course the servers. If they can make it happen, they will! We played cards and talked about trying fresh coconut, and in 20 minutes they got us each one straight from the trees. I wanted to go snorkeling from the docks, and was immediately handed gear to go out and enjoy the water. When you come home from your trip, you'll truly miss the people you meet at Tranquility Bay. ||Speaking of snorkeling, you will be so happy with how close the reef is from the dock! Ask for some gear and hop right into the water. It's only a short swim to see coral reefs and tropical fish. That's normally an experience you'd pay to go on, but you can enjoy it without any extra hassle. ||I'm sure you don't need anymore convincing at this point. Me and the people I went with were talking about coming back before we even left! That's how amazing the...
