Freshwater Creek Cabanas — Hotel in Stann Creek District

We had the pleasure of staying there for five months straight, and really got attached to it. Julian is easily the best landlord we have ever encountered--generous, friendly, and extremely attentive. If there is any issue at all, Julian responds in what are seemingly seconds, or minutes at most, quick to take care of whatever problem. His brother lived downstairs, and was a real treasure of a person. The views from all sides of the apartment are just amazing: serene, peaceful, with towering cohunes. It was also one of the most affordable of all rentals in Belize. The best months to be there would be after September, when the weather begins to cool. The house itself is an amazing construction: solid, heavy wood, looking like it was built by Vikings. It is also an exceptionally safe and peaceful neighbourhood, with absolutely no issues during our stay. Many, many birds frequent the place, both day--and to our surprise--night too. There is a long, broad balcony which is great for sitting and taking it all in. Just be aware, without being wary: you are right next to a forest, and you get the occasional visitor such as scorpions (tiny) and tarantulas (who will absolutely not harm you, and do their best to stay out of your way). This place is great! It's peaceful right on the river in the jungle and the property is beautiful. It offered the best of nature and wildlife and Hopkins Village and beach are minutes down the road. Bird watching is amazing at the property, expecially in the morning with all the birds chirping and flying playfully. The property is well cared for by the owners and they went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. They made my stay feel like home and like I was a part of the family.
