I have been dreaming of going to King Lewey's for a couple of years now. Our family finally got the chance to go right before Christmas. We stayed for 3 days/2 nights which was perfect. When we go back, we'd probably add another day. It was truly an absolute dream come true.
The only downsides were that the water trampoline was no longer there due to a really bad storm, and the swings are really difficult to get onto. I'm not tall or strong enough to pull high enough to get in. Having a little more support within the water would have been very welcome. (an extra step on the rocks?)
It rained almost the whole time, but when it was favorable weather, we got to kayak, paddleboard, and snorkel. They have all the things you need there on the island.
Kiwi and Rio are the resident parrots. One is kind, the other not so much. We absolutely loved seeing and hearing them. It was exciting to see them walking and flying around the island. Kiwi even paid us a visit while our door was open! She willingly let me take her back to her home area.
The food was good, and plentiful drinks. Be aware that you can't bring your own meals, nor drinks. You are charged for all the food and drinks you order. Maybe there's a static price for some things? Our 3 kids did a really good job racking up the bill on drinks. They all had such a good time though. It was nice to be able to not worry about the charges until we were...

Read moreThere are many positives to King Lewey's and one very large negative. First the positive: The island is done very well with a first class construction and attention to detail. The staff is fantastic. The location - it's an island in the middle of the Caribbean! Lot's of hammocks, great food and drink. Fun games for kids. All A+
Now the negative. The island is I believe 12 miles out. The trip out there is on a small uncovered skiff style boat and was exceedingly brutal. Other tour outfits much closer to Placencia had cancelled their snorkeling tours due to the rough sea but King Leweys said it was ok to go. That was an error. While the ultimate responsibility to go or not is with us as a customer we are relying on the best judgement of the 'professionals in the know' in this case they failed in pursuit of the bookings. Words simply cannot convey how absurd and jarring the trip to the island was for all involved and I have spent a decent amount of time on the water. Once King Lewey's has solved the transport issue to the island either by judgement or a better vessel it is well...
