The perfect blend of luxury, sustainability, culture, & community. They have SO many activities to choose from and I’m going to speak to my experience as a solo female traveler with a 8 month baby. Staff was so helpful accommodating my daughter on activities and arranging excursions with her needs in mind. We enjoyed kayaking with tour guide Andres. All of the staff on property clearly love what they do and love their work with the environment and animals. We felt 100% safe and the staff was so kind and attentive to my baby. I appreciated the small dishes at dinner of food cut up for my girl. The food was fresh and delicious since my daughter had ZERO stomach issues during our trip. This is the jungle, no room will be 100% bug free. The house keeping comes TWICE a day and I thought that might be too much but I appreciated that their role was to restock fresh water, close the curtains, make the bed, and get the room ready for night time. This attention to detail blew me away. After breakfast I would come back to a room with a made bed, open curtains, cleaned bathroom, and water jugs!

The staff is the sole reason that we will come back for years to come. So kind, so considerate, and I appreciate that the staff have been working there for YEARS. Speaks to the value of copal tree lodge and I value traveling sustainability not just for the environment, but also the community which a resort is built on.

Belize itself is SO family centered and my daughter and I felt so safe and cared for. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. This is our third international trip and by far our favorite. The nature, the silence of the jungle, the sounds of howler monkeys, wow. I highly recommend the Lived Mayan experience. What a unique learning experience for my daughter and she had a BLAST watching me prepare our meal by hand and playing with the instruments.

Baby- traveling solo as a woman can be stressful. The staff from the second we met them at the airport was so helpful with not only luggage, but throughout my stay they were so kind to lift my stroller or car seat up any stairs. I appreciated that some staff walked us back to our villa when it was raining and nights I was nervous to walk by myself. All the roads are lit and I love the insects and toads but alone with a baby, I was a bit hesitant at times. I appreciated staff coming and telling me the names of all the animals/bugs and I felt at such ease knowing we are safe! So kind. I was so impressed by their service. It was truly a luxury experience.

Don’t hesitate-...

From the mouths of babes: Copal Tree Lodge was great! It was so fun, I wanted to live there. I was able to explore the rainforest. That was hard adventure, but the beds were comfortable. The swimming pool was nice and lots of fun. Copal Tree Lodge is my family's favorite place.

From the parents: We were overjoyed to be able to spend a long weekend at this property. I had to eat my words regarding never staying at another property managed by Muy'Ono. This was based on our experiences with Brisa Oceano (Placencia) and The Placencia – both places were run down, poorly managed and sorely in need of investment and more oversight. Copal Tree Lodge is the exception and is the saving grace of the Muy’Ono brand in Belize! The General Manager, Mr. Kenneth Williams, was the perfect mix of attentive, professional, and hospitable. It was clear to us that he and the rest of the staff took pride in their work and in customer service. From the time we were welcomed by Evacina, we knew that we would enjoy our stay. She informed us of all our options and encouraged us to explore the property. Ombroso served us great drinks with a smile, and he treated our son like he was a welcomed guest. He patiently waited for an 8 year old to decide between lime and watermelon juice. Oscar was a delightful waiter and made sure that we knew what was great to eat - basically everything was. As soon as I informed Nestor that the A/C was not working properly, he insured that it was resolved within an hour. Make sure you get a massage from Trevilie! Her hands are magical, and she will show you stretches to relieve your shoulders, lower back and hips for those of us who sit in front of computers all day. While walking the rainforest trail (not to be missed!), we were bitten my mosquitoes that reminded us that we were invading their home. When we finished, we were exhausted, thrilled by the variety of trees, and could not imagine having to walk up the steep incline. A million thanks to Desmond who was our knight in shining armor - or in this case, a white van, who saved us and schlepped us back up to the property. We are grateful that Muy'Ono offered its 'summersanta' sale, which caused us to give this Muy'Ono property one last try. Mr. Kenneth, thanks for the breakfast feast and for making us feel so welcomed! We look forward to...

Took me a few days to write a review because I was searching for the right words…

My wife and I went last week to Copal Tree Lodge after we won a five day trip there. We weren’t sure what to expect so we went in with an open mind.

First thing we noticed upon landing was extremely warm welcome from the staff and it only got better from there.

The amenities are top-notch and the excursions both on it off the property are breathtaking. If you’re not familiar with Copal Tree Lodge, it’s an eco-lodge and 70% self-sufficient (the rum, coffee, chocolate, most of the vegetables/fruits, meats, and herbs are all produced on the property. The other 30% is sourced locally which is pretty cool how invested they are into their local community.

Hands down the BEST PART of Copal Tree Lodge is the PEOPLE that work there. Every single staff member goes over and beyond to make you feel welcomed, understand their mission, and feel the pride of what it means to be from Belize.

Because of this, everyone at the lodge also feels like a family, and even with constantly rotating through its hard not to feel like a family with each other and the staff.

My favorite moment that sums up the staff was when we took a Coffee Tour with Elon and he was taking time to explain all the herbs they also grew on the farm and their health benefits. I asked Elon what he recommended for allergies and he said don’t worry I know just the thing. I’ll come find you tonight when you have dinner.

Fast-forward Three hours later we’re having dinner… Elon taps me on the shoulder and brought out 4 cups of homemade lemongrass tea he made for everyone at our table in case anyone else was having issues with allergies as well.

My story isn’t one off… some of the other friends we made there told us they brought them fresh aloe vera for their sunburns and they found out it was someone else’s birthday and made them an entire birthday cake from scratch.

Todd and Wuluc-you truly have a speacial team at Copal all of which are incredible. We wanted to specifically mention: Elon, Andres, Elicia, Tim, Elmer, and Mark for making our trip special.

We can’t wait to come back in February and see our Copal Tree Lodge.

P.S.. they’re not joking when they say Copalli rum doesn’t give you...

My wife and I spent the first half of our honeymoon at Copal Tree Lodge in June 2025. This place feels like the Holy Grail of jungle getaways in that it feels hidden in the rainforest but provides a more life-giving experiences than any other luxury establishment we've encountered in Europe or the Americas. Everything from surrounding gardens and farms to the architecture, people, and excursions teem with life, passion, and sustainability. From day one, the management staff Nestor and Karen made sure we were taken care of after a difficult start and set the tone of a personalized journey instead of just a vacation. Then we were absolutely floored by the Guides: Desmond, Martin, and Elon. Desmond was a Renaissance man and conservationist guiding us through (1) birdwatching and photography across the property, (2) the local organic rum distillery process, (3) snorkeling and spearfishing, and (4) the ecological history of all southern Belize. Martin was a true born storyteller walking us through (1) Mayan history, (2) Belizean governance, and (3) everything else you could hope to know about the country. Elon was a friend and shaman guiding us through (1) how to navigate the local trails, plants, and wildlife, (2) making us a tea from medicinal jungle plants to settle my stomach, and (3) tips from his upcoming book on medicinal jungle plants. The rest of the experience was fueled by our chief mixologist “Lucky” Ducky and the whole dining staff Rev, Mark, Ambro, and Marvin bringing warmth and personality to every meal. The food is all literally grown on-site and the rotating menu kept things interesting the whole week. Our days were spent waking up at sunrise to walk through the gardens, saying hi to the farmers, watching the birds before taking in an excursion and returning to a gorgeous private infinity pool at the top of the hill with a fruit cocktail and a cooling breeze to keep the bugs away. In summary Copal Tree Lodge is real sustainable tourism with everything from local organic farming to guided eco‑friendly tours, they’ve built a blueprint for how vacation resorts should operate at a sustainable scale staying rooted in local culture, mindful of the environment, and passionate about the people. It’s a masterclass in responsible tourism.

This place is amazing!! I would recommend it to everyone I know! (This will be a long review) My husband and I went here on our honeymoon April 2023. Our luggage didn't make it to the airport so we didn't have any of our personal items so the hostess had one of the employees go into town for tooth brushes and toothpaste so we could at least brush our teeth that night, that customer service was above and beyond! The next day our luggage arrived and the lodge made sure it was brought directly to our room! We signed up for the honeymoon package which I highly recommend. The room was decorated and each tour/excursion was so much fun! Making chocolate was fun and educational, I was so excited to take the chocolate I made home! The coffee tour had the best coffee I've ever tasted! The snorkeling was my favorite! My husband and I were the only two who went so it was like a private snorkeling event! The only part that I didn't like is when a barracuda showed up and I thought it would eat me but you can't control the ocean 😳 the staff who went snorkeling made sure we constantly had a drink in our hand and the food they prepared for lunch was delicious! Just sitting in your rooms covered porch was fun! There's so much wildlife to discover while you're sitting out there. The shower in your room is incredible!! One of a kind. You get to view the jungle through a big window while you shower (no one can see you) The pool was so relaxing! Any time I wasn't doing an event that's where I wanted to be! Each meal we had was delicious, I think about the fry jacks and refried beans daily. The care they put into their menu really shows! Every person on staff was so friendly, kind and helpful! I could go on and on about this place and one day I hope to go back, maybe for a 5 or 10 year anniversary. Every part of our honeymoon was perfect. Please enjoy these photos ☺️
