Until you come here to stay, you will not truly understand what peace and serenity mean. We stayed at the Six Senses in Punakha, Paro, and Thimpu and were very happy they convinced us to stay at three instead of two resorts. All three were completely different and all three were worth the travel time to see the countryside, to see the different religious sites, and to take it all in.||We couldn't have been happier with every single moment spent on this trip. Andrew (general manager of all 5 resorts), our guide Sonam, our driver Wanda, and Tippy all treated us like family. They have left a special spot in our heart for Bhutan. ||All three resorts had incredible meals with choices between local cuisine or more westernized dishes. There is no need to go hungry if you come here. Service was simply top notch at every meal. ||All of the resorts are family friendly. There is plenty of outside space to be a kid or for adults to exercise. The grounds of all three resorts were meticulously maintained. There are also plenty of activities that are set up through the resort like archery, different craft type events. They also have outdoor fire pits that get lit up at night which made the view that much more enjoyable. It was simply magical looking out across the valleys into the snowcaps. ||I highly recommend the archery to try. It was an absolute joy to spend the time with Wanda, Sonam and Tippy shooting the bows and throwing darts. It was like 4 friends just hanging out having fun. You will not find this level of comfort and feeling of belonging at very many resorts. All of these folks went out of their way to make this special.||We will definitely be back to see the other two resorts and will be requesting Wanda and Sonam to go with us.||A few tips before you go - we live in Florida which is flat, make sure you do a little exercise if you are not physically fit, as the altitude can be tough. Also, make sure you get cash out before getting to Bhutan. Both Indian Rupes and Bhutan Rupes are accepted. There are ATM machines here, but they do not always work for US cards. There are a lot of Youtube videos about how dangerous the landing is at Paro Airport. It simply is not true. There was nothing overly exciting about landing or taking off, other than seeing the Himalayan Mountains. ||Thank you Andrew for sharing your resorts with us and for giving us (our biased opinion) the best staff you had to spend time with us. Sonam, Wanda and Tippy will forever be...

Read moreI've been waxing poetic about the five Six Senses properties in Bhutan to anyone who will listen.
While I met others who mixed and matched different hotel brands, following the Six Senses circuit made everything seamless. My bills were transferred and settled on my last day. All of my preferences (from liking my room a little cooler at night to loving onions) seemed to be noted and carried across every lodge. My guide, Namgay, and driver stayed with me the entire journey and were the absolute best.
Six Senses Punakha was the most stunning property, in my opinion, with the lounge perched over the pool with the breathtaking view of the valley below. The well appointed room with the giant balcony felt very private and cozy.
One of my favorite experiences of the whole trip was the game of archery and darts at the lodge, combined with some ara (local spirit) tasting. It was raining heavily, but we (me, other guests, and staff) were having the time of our lives.
I really had an outstanding stay and I look forward to returning back to the Bhutan Six Senses...
