We were placed here by Banjo tours when we should have stayed at a different hotel (different story). ||On first view the hotel looked nice, the front and interior of the hotel I would go as far to say is quite nice, if you don’t look too close.||However the main issue with this hotel is absolutely appalling food that is served. For dinner, we went at opening at 7:30 and few minutes later they brought the hot “food” out which half of it was stone cold. The selection is very limited, chicken and veg. But really the presentation and food quality was worse than a school lunch, by far. How a supposedly 4 star hotel can get away from serving such poor quality only the Bolivian hotel association can answer. Both my wife and I were ill during the night, my wife more so and was left with a painful stomach much of the next day. Breakfast was equally unappealing. I tried papaya juice that was watered down within an inch of its life. The hot option was scrambled eggs, boiled egg or fried egg all looking equally unappetising. I stick with cereal and my wife had a cup of tea which was made using cold water from the supposed hot water tea cylinder. ||Other gripes include the rear outside space looking like a building site and shower door not shutting g properly meaning the bathroom floor flooded during a shower to name a couple.||The hotel had three llamas on site in a pen for tourists to gawp at and given how the hotel treats its human guests I really pity those llama. They should not be placed in a small pen, that is cruel.||This hotels seems to live on agency referrals so if you are booking a tour check carefully with the agency where you are staying. If they mention this hotel insist on changing or change to another agency.||You could not pay me to...

This hotel has the potential to be a real stand out, made of salt, the design is wonderful, really interesting shape and layout, quirky carvings in the salt walls, great communal spaces such as a fantastic games room (fab idea as there's nowhere to go nearby) and obviously aiming at a high end market

BUT in the midst of their renovations (which appear to have been going on at least a year) they have completely forgotten customer service, absolutely no apology made for the fact you are staying on a construction zone, the communal sitting area/bar was turned into a temporary reception with no alternative arrangement for guests to use, no information provided in rooms , no water provided (expected at this standard of hotel).

It was a though this was a brand new place just opened so hadn't got organised but apparently it's been there about 8 years

I would've thought it would make good business sense if undergoing such big works to either close while doing it OR pre warn your guests and go out your way to minimise the inconvenience and sweeten them with thoughtful and fantastic service .

I would love to see this place when finished as I think it'll be extraordinary but they have an enormous amount of work to do to bring the staff/service up to a level of professionalism to match the clientele they're aiming for.

Stayed December 2016,...

This is a very unique hotel located in the middle of the largest salt flat in the world, the Uyuni Salt Flat, The hotel is huge and made of salt, there are multiple sections with it's own bars and rest areas with couch and big flat screen TVs. The entrance and main lobby is very well decorated and each of the smaller lobbies are decorated with figures of animals, wall sculptures etc. The rooms are big with comfortable beds. dining area is on the upper level with buffet which are pretty basic. Scenery outside the hotel is pretty cool especially in the evening. This is quite an expensive place, being in the middle of the salt mine where few facilities are available. it is around 20 minutes drive from the town of Uyuni.

The staff of the salt hotel should fix the shower door. When the guest takes a shower, a lot of water flows out of the shower door. This is the first time I have experienced a shower door like this. And the staff of the hotel should pay attention to the room cleaning. Small trash is hidden in the room. There is a lot of dust and dirt under the window. The staff of the hotel should take care of the invisible parts of the room every day. All other facilities are good. The hot water is sufficient and the bed is warm, which helps the guest sleep comfortably. I recommend that travelers experience the salt hotel. The salt hotel is 30 minutes by car from the center of Uyuni and 3 minutes from the salt desert.

It's really expensive for these kind of rooms. They have Unique Rooms made of Salt. Little bit dirty and the windows are hard to be opened / closed. Our rooms and Bathroom has windows to a big hall / meeting rooms so it is not comfortable at all. The buffet breakfast and buffet dinner aren't delicious and they have only few options. The quality of Fruit is also bad. If I can go to Salar de Uyuni without staying in a hotel, I won't stay here. The public toilet is Smelly and can reach some rooms near the WC.. 🤮
