As a traveling gringo, I just wanted to leave a constructive review to help both the resort and future travellers decide. As a summary, I'd only recommend going as a day guest as there is a lot of work to be done to improve this resort.
We booked for Friday night (which was a lot over our normal budget, but we thought it would be a treat). It cost almost 800 bobs (which was discounted) for a cabaña for two people including breakfast. We communicated with the resort over WhatsApp beforehand but they didn't mention that there would be no activities for the evening and no dining options either. There should be a nice bug free seating area for guests to relax in the evening, perhaps with some music playing and a pool table. The resort would also be able to capture drink sales.
Once we arrived and were shown our cabaña, I asked about dinner. They said we had to order by 17:30 to eat at 18:00 and the only options were basically a fried snack bar with outdoor seating (burger, fried chicken, fries and no vegetarian/vegan/gluten free options). This food option isn't really okay for an expensive resort. When I asked if we could eat later, they spoke to the boss and said we could eat until 9pm. We ended up getting an Uber for food at an outside restaurant and returning to sleep in the cabaña. A menu with options that aren't just deep fried needs to be implemented, or guests should be informed in advance of the lack of dining options as it was confusing and frustrating to have to leave to eat a nice meal.
The cabañas had a bit of a damp smell, the bathrooms had mold growing (I could wipe some of the tiled wall, so it clearly wasn't cleaned properly), the sink area had dirt and mold around the taps, and the AC sprayed water when turned on. The cabañas need some maintenance and the pricing should equal what you get in them.
Due to the weather, some activities weren't on as they were water logged - minigolf and crazy golf.
Overall, I'd recommend going if you want to see the birds in the aviary (although beware of the toucan) and the monkeys but I would only...
Read moreAmazing experience. You must understand, the people who did this, did it in a very little space (compared to natural reserves) but they did it with an actual conviction of a human - nature coexistence. They want you to try it, first hand; they want you to be convinced that this option (the coexistence) is possible. Although the space is small, the variety of animals is not so extensive... your journey (25 mins max from the city) will worth every minute and every penny... a little space of heaven to relax and enjoy. Then the journey begin... You arrive at 10 or 11 am, then, as an advice, enjoy the pools or the kayak on the lake, do all the activities on water that you want (pools, waterfall, kayaking on a lake, pool with sand). Then, you must eat. Enjoy the buffet on the restaurant (many delicious dishes to taste). Be delighted with the attention and the food. From this point onwards is a joy for the sight. Do the trekking path to the butterfly sanctuary were you will experience the silence of the jungle, surrounded by the most amazing butterflies. Then take a detour to the birds sanctuary, where you can have a blast with all kind of parrots and peacocks. I’m here you can feel what a bird feels from the balcony that stands as much as 35 mts from the ground, enough to have an amazing view of Santa Cruz. Then slow down, enjoy the tranquil life of the tortoise and see what is like a normal day in their natural habitat. Sadly, the journey is close to an end, but you can be amazed once more with the marsh. Here, from a prudent distance, you will see capivaras, ñandú and antas; all topical animals of the region. Come, visit this place, be amazed by the facilities (kind of 5 star hotel) and be convinced of the idea that nature and humans can coexist.
You won’t regret anything...
One more thing... it is a resort!! I haven’t spent the night, but I...
Read moreVery nice resort. We loved the surroundings and the park with the butterflies and the parrots, ape and some other animals. They have a number of pools and a lot of things to do. Unfortunately the water was freezing as we where there in winter (July). The rustic cabin was ok, but I found the 2900 Bs per night (after winter reductions) to be expensive. We had a great buffet and the restaurant was good but not excellent.||||We only stayed one night and I would say that you should stay 2 nights to have time for everything.||||The resort has free wifi with a decent speed considering what you have at other hotels in Bolivia. They were doing constructions around the pool area.||||The information in the reception could have been better. We had to ask for pool towels and I guess my Spanish isn't very good because they gave me cards for welcome drinks? So I got a drink and a towel but I couldn't get the drink in the pool bar - had to go to the restaurant. There is only one restaurant and no other options for meals in the area.||||But the city is still pretty close and they have a taxi service so it's easy to get a...
