The hotel is remote and rustic to say the least. It was built by the local community and the buildings are poorly constructed and maintained. The staff donât seem to care much. We stayed at the Hotel del Desierto Tayka which is also run by the local community and is indeed remote and basic but at least the staff there try their best to accommodate guests and make an effort.||||The hotel doesnât appear to get much business and we could see why. Apart from us there were only 2 other rooms occupied but this didnât seem to matter to the staff who either disappeared or shuffled around chatting to each other. The staff only spoke Spanish and we got the feeling that they didn't want to work there. ||||We were given Room 10 at the far end of the hotel in the corner. This looked to be one of the best rooms and had a view over the village. On the positive side there was hot water in the shower. The beds had no sheets, only loads of blankets which were extremely heavy and rough on the skin. The blankets didnât appear to have been changed from the last guest and were greasy. As the beds didn't look clean, we slept in our clothes.||||The Wifi didnât work in the room but was ok if you went to reception and sat next to the router.||||Dinner was served at 7pm and was a very basic soup, main course and small dessert. The only non-alcoholic options to drink were water, orange or lemonade carbonated soft drinks. There were no light versions of any drinks (no Coke Light or Pepsi Max), just the full sugary versions which is not what tourists want.||||Breakfast was supposed to be served from 7am but when we arrived there was nothing set up. After 20 minutes we ended up eating cereal out of a cup to save time waiting for bowls and other food. This was the only hotel we stayed in that didnât serve any fruit at breakfast. ||||When we checked out, we tried to pay for the drinks (around USD $5 in boliviano equivalent). The âreceptionistâ shrugged and after translation we ascertained she was saying she had no change! Seriously, a hotel with no change or rather someone who just couldnât be bothered to do her job. This summed up the whole experience at this hotel. We ended up paying USD $10 and just left. If this hotel is included in your trip we would advise looking for alternative accommodation. It surely canât have much...

Read moreOne point for the awesome view of the stars, the Milky Way, the desert. |The staff said electricity would be on until 10 pm, and that the heating would be on all night. And then the opposite was what happened. |It was a Miserable night. Even after wearing all the clothes I had, I still was freezing for most of the night. If I had an hour of sleep, it's exaggerating. |The room, as well as the whole hotel, reeked of gas, fuel and coal. Enough to make my head hurt. |Dinner was US 20 per person, and was VERY basic: 1 bread roll, noodles soup, chicken (in small pieces) with 3 slices of carrot and 3 green beans, and a fruit brochette. Yes, the place is supposed to be rustic, but there's a difference between that, and taking advantage of the guests because there's NOTHING BUT DESERT AROUND. |So if you still want to visit, take all your warmest clothes, an electric blanket, and...
