My boyfriend and I stayed at Chobe Elephant Camp for 3 nights during our 11-night safari trip. We had an amazing time at this lodge and highly recommend it! Upon arrival, we were picked up from the airport and taken to the lodge, which is about an hour drive. Staying on the west end of the park was nice as there were not as many lodges on that side, so it seemed to be a quieter option. However, we came to this park during peak time and Chobe never seemed crowded, most of the day during our game drives there were no other cars in sight. Our guide was Kevin, and he was fantastic. He was actually probably our favorite guide out of all the camps we stayed at. We lucked out and didn’t have to share our jeep with anyone else for about half the time we were there. The other days, we shared with a family (two parents, and two teenagers). Kevin was so patient with us taking pictures and being so fascinated about everything we saw (this was our first stop on our first ever safari). He would us a lot about the animals and would try to get positioned in a way that the photos would have the best lighting. You will luck out if you get Kevin as your guide! The food was fantastic. Every meal we had was great, and there was plenty of food to make sure you were full. The room was great, comfy bed, very clean room that stayed cool (partially to thank due to A/C). This was the only camp where it was bearable to take a nap during siesta, all the other camps were too hot. I loved the outdoor shower! One day they took you on a boat tour. This wasn’t optional (at least it didn’t seem that way), but we really enjoyed it. The boat tour was only about 2 hours and was not in lieu of a game drive, it took place during the normal siesta time, so it was like a bonus for us. Yes, it made for a long day, but you don’t come to Africa to relax, you come to see wildlife! All the staff were excellent, and made you feel very welcomed. I am so glad we chose this lodge to stay at, we had an amazing time! I can only hope that one day we will be able to return.||||Animals we saw duing our stay: Southern Ground Hornbill, Zebra, Giraffe, Kudu, Impala, Helmeted Guineafowl, White Backed Vulture, Leopard, Southern Red-Billed Hornbill, Hippo, Cape Buffalo, Roan Antelope, Sable Antelope, African Fish Eagle, African Openbill Stork, Saddle-Billed Stork, Great Egret, Lion, Slender Mongoose, Waterbuck, Grey Heron, Greater Blue-Eared Starling, Crocodile, Yellow-Billed Stork, African Sacred Ibis, Honey Badger, Great White Pelican, Tawny Eagle, Black-Backed Jackal, Side-Striped Jackal, Lilac-Breasted Roller, Puku, Water Monitor, Marabou Stork,...
Read moreChobe elephant camp is located at the westerly end of the National Park and about an hours drive from Kasana airport. Close to the westerly entrance there are few safari vehicles. The track down to the river at this end is very bumpy, but soon over. The greeting is from the staff choir with a beautiful welcome harmonised song. High tea is at 15:30 followed by a safari until 18:00 when the Park closes. Dinner 19:30 and then to bed and a wake up at 5:30, breakfast at 6:00 and out for the full day, safari till 14:00 and then a cruise. Day 3 were morning and afternoon safari over the same ground and then off to the airport the following morning. Accommodation rustic, food fine with plenty of fruit and veg. The safari experiences were amazing with astonishing sightings of elephant, lions, buffalo and one leopard. Large numbers of giraffe, zebras and antelope. The guides were brilliant at finding and spotting the mammals. We drove right up to a (breeding) pair of alert lions, and saw a young female stalking and chasing a giraffe. Chobe river cruise good. As a birder I was disappointed that they didn’t pick out all the birds. There were plenty of birds on the trip with many Fish-Eagles. Cons: we had to share the jeep, and on day 3 our itinerary involved meeting a vehicle for an airport in the morning, and in the afternoon, delaying a little to meet a vehicle from...
Read moreGreat singing welcome and the most genuinely friendly lodge we stayed at while on safari. It seemed a happy place not just for guests but staff too. Every member of staff was charming and made an effort to engage but the big shout out goes to Micah our driver and excellent guide with a wealth of knowledge. Wildlife drives were astonishing for the variety of wildlife and beautiful riverine and hill scenery. We didn't always know exactly what the plan was but that was part of the fun seeking out the animals. It helped that the camp driver/guides were in touch and could give tip offs to good sightings. There is no off road driving but plenty of tracks to follow everywhere and we felt the animals were respected.|This lodge is situated at the far end of the National Park river front and we got the impression that this area was quieter. There were great views from the lodge.|Our room was lovely with a balcony and outdoor shower as well as indoor shower. Like all lodges you are escorted to your room at dawn and dusk. The fire pit area was welcoming and staff encourage guests to mingle. |The pool was most attractive with great views from the decking. |Food was excellent and we had one picnic lunch on the day we had a drive followed by a boat trip.
