We had a great time at Golente Homestay. We stayed for 4 nights. In between we did a 2 night safari organised by the owner.
The homestay has everything you need. Comfortable beds, super clean, nice bathroom, even a TV and a small kitchen. If we missed something in the kitchen, we were always welcome to ask. You can also enjoy your breakfast outside. We felt like we were at home, especially with the lovely family. The family invited us for a braai which we really enjoyed. Great food, lovely company, good conversation, bonfire and wine. The whole family is very warm, super welcoming, helpful, attentive and friendly. The location is quite good. There is a supermarket nearby. Otherwise you are within 10 minutes in the centre for 30 Pula.
We went on a private safari, camping in the delta with a guide, cook and assistant. On a small campsite with no other tourists. We did 3 bushwalks and cruises by canoe. From start to finish the safari was brilliantly organised, great food from the chef (freshly baked bread in the morning), a guide with a lot of knowledge, funny talks around the camp fire and excellent service. But also time to sit in our camp chair and watch the birds. Mama knows how to spoil her guests. We got sheets, blankets and pillows instead of sleeping bags, extra warm sheets and hot water bags. All in all, brilliant! We were so grateful and that's why we can highly recommend this homestay and when we come back to Maun we will definitely stay...
Read moreWe had a fantastic time at Golentle Homestay. Kay and her children are delightful. The bedroom is very clean and the bed comfy. We stayed there several nights.
Kay organized us an amazing private safari for 200 US dollars pppn in the Okavango delta. For the safari, we embarked on a mokoro to reach a small private island where one would set up the camp. To be in a mokoro was a beautiful and so peaceful experience. We had a private cook, Chef Letz, whose kitchen enchanted us (home made bread, chicken in an oven on the fire, fish from the delta). It was my birthday and Chef Letz made a delicious chocolate cake. We also had a private guide and went on two walking safaris. The guide was super knowledgeable and we learn a lot.
Kay is very kind and extremely talented at organizing and finding the right persons to make your stay unforgetable. I truly enjoyed my birthday safari a lot. I clearly would...
Read moreWe spent 6 nights in Golentle Homestay in 2 separate occasions during our 4 weeks trip to Botswana. It is run by a friendly lady and her sons. The place is very homie. One night we chatted with 2 of her sons for couple hours over a fire.
There are 6 rooms in 3 separate buildings and the family lives in another building within the premises which is gated with an electric fence, therefore in terms of security it is better than most hotels.
The rooms have AC/heat, fridge, microwave, bathtub or shower but no air dryer. They charged laundry per load and returned within the same day which was very good for us as we just spent a week camping in the parks.
My favorite feature of the room was the water pressure and flow were both high, the hot water took only a few seconds.
Overall, if you are looking for a budget lodging with the most bang for the buck, I think Golentle Homestay is a very...
