Visited Machaba Camp in late April 2024. - (3 night stay) The arrival from Maun to Machaba (Airstrip) was just brilliant we had a great Heli transfer, we arrived at camp and were greeted by the team and shown around the area, the camp is small as expected and has just what it offers which is fine. Having been on many Safaris in the past but not a tented experience i was not sure what to expect. The tents were good and large in size so plenty of space, you do need to adjust to the outdoor lifestyle which was a nice experience, the staff were helpful and attentive to requests. The days can zip by and are busy with game drives twice a day. i did get some pool time and its was great as the elephants feed just at the rivers bank so are so close its nice to just have that moment. We saw a good range of game on the drives ( its can get chilly early morning and late evening - so pack accordingly) the guides were good and explained and engaged with us in a relaxed manner. The evenings had guest dinners with some staff joining to chat to the guests - which is nice. The food on offer is good but could be upgraded (with just a few tweaks - management have a brainstorm here) overall the meals & lunch's were good and the drinks on offer were also good. I would recommend the experience and the camp as its a little different from the norm, and i feel they are trying to improve and make the camp even better so do give them a try 👍.

My stay at Machaba Camp was nothing short of magical. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel incredibly welcomed and cared for. The setting is stunning—luxurious tents that blend beautifully into the landscape, with the sounds of the Okavango all around. The food was consistently delicious, the service flawless, and every detail thoughtfully curated. What made the experience truly unforgettable was the personalized attention. I had the privilege of going on one-on-one game drives with my guide for three days, and his knowledge, passion, and care added so much depth to the safari. I saw incredible wildlife, learned about the ecosystem, and felt deeply connected to the land. Machaba strikes the perfect balance between comfort and authenticity, and I left feeling both inspired and incredibly grateful. I can’t recommend it enough.

Machaba Camp was the highlight of our trip around Botswana. The location leaves you speechless, from the sounds of nature surrounding the tents and camp to the majestic animals wandering around. The entire staff, everyone, was absolutely lovely and made our stay the best. Our guide Eric showed us the most spectacular animals and views, was extremely knowledgeable, fun and passionate while telling us all about the land and animals, and made sure we were safe while admiring elephants, lions, leopard, giraffes, zebras, wild cats, hyenas, african civet, hippos, and so so many more! We will be back, thank you!

We had been to Little Machaba camp back in 2017 with our daughter and it holds a place in our heart ! We were travelling back to the Delta with special friends and felt we had to visit the camp again ….. always a risk as it might have changed! We weren’t disappointed … it’s still holds a magic, small , intimate, friendly, quiet…only 4 tents ..you felt part of the family. I even recognised staff from 2017! Efficiently managed, lovely guide Shaun who was so enthusiastic and fun to be with …he found lots of animals we hadn’t seen before and was always happy to take us on long drives! Lots of lion, elephants at close quarters, even honey badgers. We followed a pack of painted dogs hunting…very special. We had a beautiful Mokoro ride in the beautiful morning sunshine which gave us a different view of the waterways. The beautiful tiny Malachite kingfisher swooped and dived as did the Pied Kingfisher . We saw fish eagles, brown snake eagles, Lilac breasted rollers and multiple aquatic waders…even the stunning Goliath heron. Eating in the evening was communal and fun with hot ashes under our seat to keep us warm . They even had a pop up Gin bar for our sundowners out on the game drive. Thank you for your hospitality …truly memorable!||( just one point …. Not the camp to blame but the concession is more of a “shared concession” in my opinion with many more self drive jeeps than back in 2017 which did take away from some of the viewings.. definitely busier …I think you’ll lose business if you don’t find some way to...
