OMG - this place is the ultimate in luxury in the wilderness. The rooms were incredible - large. The bed was so comfortable, hot water bottles to make it nice and cozy when we get into bed each night. There was a large seating area both inside and outside to take in the views. There was a double indoor and single outdoor shower. They provided shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and bug spray. The bar fridge was totally stocked, they even provided gluten free cookies. |King's Pool Camp is a special place. The staff were amazing, attentive and knowledgeable - special mention goes to OG, Ashley, Ruby and Mike.|We felt so lucky to have See as our guide. His knowledge of the animals, plants, and ecosystem was outstanding. He just gave us so much "extra" information - did you know that trees communicate with each other? He was just so passionate about his career. One day before a drive he brought out a map of Botswana to show us exactly where we were located - we had no idea there were so many fault lines in the country. One evening we did some stargazing, See was pointing out the different constellations and showed us the Southern Cross - being from Canada we had never seen that before. |The food was incredible - one night we even had a sampling of Kudu - it wasn't for me but the rest of my family felt it tasted like steak. My husband and two sons are celiac, they were able to provide a gluten free version of all of the meals and snacks. |The lodge was not that busy so we were lucky to have just the four of us in the vehicle for all of the game drives. This allowed us to move around the vehicle freely and go and see and so what "we" wanted. They provided hot water bottles and blankets on each of the morning drives. I wore a hoodie, down vest and long pants and everyone else wore hoodies and long pants. It warmed up really quickly once the sun came up.|We saw all of the animals we were hoping to see and more. One of the special moments was going to the hide - the elephants were so close I could have reached out and touched them. We had a delicious lunch (setup by Mike who did a fabulous job) in the blind while we watched the wildlife.|We had two tents. One configured with a king bed and the other with two twins. I think we were in tents 6 and 7.|If you can do it, I would 1000% recommend King's Pool Camp. Being in a private reserve is definitely the way to go - you rarely see another vehicle and you really get to experience nature without...
Read morePart 2 of the trip of a lifetime! We were upgraded to Kings Pool Camp when our initial camp was undergoing a re-furb - and wow - how lucky were we! ||The camp is in the Linyanti region and an incredible, otherworldly landscape. It's much drier than the delta area and this provides for a very different experience. The camp is gorgeous, the rooms (suites?) are luxury personified: they all look out to the lagoon, double shower and outdoor shower on a little deck. Toiletries provided are good quality. Bar fridge, with selection of alcoholic choices and coffee/tea facilities in the room. Meals are to order and the food is worthy of a good restaurant in Sydney - I highly recommend the beef kebabs (which I had 3 times in 3 days!) and again they cater well for dietary needs. ||Our guide Bame was brilliant - funny, fun and knowledgeable. He's fearless in finding the best spots and animals. We felt completely safe with him - even when he almost had to cut me out of my seat belt because I got stuck! We met Golden Boy and his protégé, lion; saw a pack of wild dogs waking up and got to hear their ridiculous calling ritual; leopards, eagles, a pride of lions after a kill (I must admit to feeling glad that I did not witness the kill itself). And myriad of other animals including a porcupine and of course many eles, hippo and pumbas! Truly everything you can hope to see. The ele herd right outside camp was a treat!||Lunch on day 2 in the hide is a wonderful experience - you can almost touch the eles as they play with the water pump and the special sundowners on the river was a wonderful treat.||The hospo team are truly wonderful; welcoming and kind; we loved our chat with Lorgo and learning a bit more about her life. Mike and Ruby and the rest of the team made everything so special. ||We went in Sept 24 and the rains had not arrived so it was very hot and dry; this meant that the river was very low and the boat was not able to do the evening trip - I'm sure it would have been lovely but we definitely did not feel we were deprived.||Absolutely loved this incredible experience. Thank you Wilderness and the...
Read moreMy wife Jackie and I had an outstanding experience at Wilderness King's Pool camp. The staff was extremely attentive to our every need, including very specific dietary restrictions. The rooms are luxurious and beautiful with outstanding views across the entire camp. Everyone at King's Pool worked very well as a team to ensure a great guest experience, and in particular we'd like to recognize Tilly, OD, and OG for their tremendous service.||||Of course, our primary reason to visit was to view animals, and that too was an incredible experience. Words cannot describe the greatness of our guide Nams. He has a great wealth of knowledge regarding the animals and the area much like other guides, but what sets Nams apart from others is his enthusiasm and passion in everything he does. His interpersonal skills are top-notch which greatly contributes to an amazing guest experience. Beyond the animals, we learned a lot about Nams' family, his culture, his aspirations, and had a fun lesson on the stars. :) Jackie and I had so much fun over the three days we spent with Nams at King's Pool as this will be a unique experience that we will always remember. The game viewing was top notch, mostly thanks to Nams' intuition and "being in touch with nature." If you're planning to visit King's Pool, we highly recommend requesting Nams as a guide if he's available.||||Nams, we can't thank you enough for the lifetime memories you provided us and hope you can see your first ocean later this year as...
