This time we were able to experience the northern part of the Okavango Delta with Wilderness. Vumbura Plains North is "THE" camp for us - brilliant service and staff. The game drives are very well organised and our guide Willie tracked lions and leopards thanks to his experience and tracking skills. A very special observation was the hunting of a pack of wild dogs. Truly spectacular!!! Whilst relaxing in our beautiful accommodation, which has been thought through to the last detail, we were regularly visited by elephants, kudus and warthogs. Hippos are present day and night. Many thanks to the entire Wilderness team, starting with Cara and the planning and ending with our guide Willie at the airstrip. A wonderful high-end experience.

We had an absolutely fantastic three night stay here, complete with delicious meals and amazing wildlife sightings. The staff the is incredibly warm and full of delightful surprises. For example, at one point during a game drive we come across two staff members standing by a table, ready to serve us warm hot chocolate. We visited during the winter, so it got below freezing at night and was sometimes tough to get out of a nice, warm bed at 5:30am for game drives each day, but it was definitely worth it to do so, as the things we saw on each outing were incredible. I would definitely recommend this camp to anyone interested in a luxurious safari experience.

Vumbura provides an opportunity to showcase one of Botswana's rare cultures, a deeper understanding of basket weaving and occasionally one will find the local community weaving beautiful baskets and a chance to meet the local community, a portray culture with dancing and signing, unique cocktails made to your liking and local foods tswii (waterlily),locally its prepared with meat and goes with pap or polenta. The amazing chefs make pasta and gluten free pastry using the waterlily...

We visited Vumbura Plains right after Little Mombo, which was so exceptional, we were half expecting Vumbura to be comparatively disappointing. Could two separate properties deliver an equivalently 5-star experience? YES. ||Since we visited in May, the Okavango Delta was flush with water, which made the views from our individual rooms and the common area especially spectacular. Sunrises and sunsets reflecting over pools filled with hippos and elephants … it’s like something out af a movie (that you don’t want to end). ||Our game drives were filled with adventure thanks to our guide Taps who is an unbelievably skilled and fearless driver, and one determined to ensure we experienced all that the area had to offer. Every game drive was filled with animal sightings, we’d scarcely go 5-10 minutes without seeing something new. We especially appreciated Taps coming to get us during lunch after hearing there was a cheetah in the area and knowing how much we were hoping to see one. Despite just getting back from our morning drive, Taps was willing to forego his own break and jump back in the jeep with us for a special quest to find the cheetah. It turned out to be pretty difficult to find, and just as we were about ready to give up and turn around, Taps spotted him. It was an incredible moment and one shared by only the 5 of us in the vehicle. (A great feature of Vumbura and Mombo is that we were usually either the only vehicle or one of two vehicles at each animal sighting so you really got a feeling of intimacy with the animals you were viewing). Taps was also very patient, allowing us to sit with a leopard or this cheetah or the lions we spotted for as long as we wanted, providing an opportunity to quietly observe their behavior. ||Another highlight of our visit occurred on Monday night. It was truly a “surprise and delight” moment that I don’t want to spoil for others who might be considering a stay at Vumbura, so I’ll just leave you with the tip that you should book over a Monday evening if possible, either at Vumbura or other Wilderness camps, which I believe offer something similar on Monday night. Last, another incredible experience was the sundowner set up for just the four of us with an extensive selection of snacks and made-to-order drinks overlooking a pond with zebra and impala strolling by as the sun slowly faded. Once in a lifetime memory we will not forget.||In terms of Vumbura itself, the entire staff could not have been more welcoming; the food was fantastic; and the design of rooms and common areas was impeccable (including probably the world’s most interesting bathroom!) We would highly recommend this...

This is an amazing hotel in the Okavango Delta. The staff at Wilderness is exceptional. The hotel is on land leased from part of the local community and the hotel supports many local jobs in the surrounding area. Many of the staff are related or part of the local community and their love and passion for the hotel, the Delta and Botswana is in everything they do. ||The rooms are modern, all glass and give a fantastic unique view of the mesmerizing landscape.||Our guide, Big-O was amazing. He worked to make sure we were always the first at every sighting and to make sure we had the best experience possible. We saw a leopard with her kill, lions after a warthog kill and too many elephants, girafffes, zebra and other animals to count. The makoro dugout canoe trip was a highlight and made you feel totally off the grid and closer to the local beauty of the area.||The staff from the manager Charity, to bar man Six to everyone in between were so warm and friendl. One of our travelers had tummy trouble (probably the Malarone malaria prophylaxis) and they went out of their way to make sure he was comfortable.||The food is thoughtful, you order off a menu and they have a plant based focus on local ingrediants and sustainability.||Wilderness has an amazing story of conservation, sustainablity and empowering communities. This camp...
